2.26.10 Office Established

In order to hear cases brought by a department head pursuant to the provisions of this Code, there is hereby established for such purpose the Office of County Hearing Officer under authority of and pursuant to Government Code Section 27720.

2.26.20 Appointment

The County Administrative Officer shall appoint one or more hearing examiners to the Office of the Hearing Officer. Such examiners shall serve at the pleasure of the Board of Supervisors. A hearing examiner shall meet the qualifications of Chapter 14, Part 3, Division 2 of Title 3 of the California Government Code, sections 27720-27728. A hearing examiner may be a county employee or the County may contract with qualified persons to serve as hearing examiners. A hearing examiner shall not have interests in any property subject to any hearing at which such examiner presides. Any person currently serving as a County hearing officer at the time this Chapter is adopted may continue to serve as a hearing examiner under this Chapter.

2.26.30 Delegation Of Authority

The Board of Supervisors hereby delegates to hearing examiners appointed under this Chapter powers and duties set forth in Government Code Section 25845.
