18.24.10 Permit And Sign File Procedures; General¶
In addition to the more specific procedures specified in the following chapters, the general procedures set out in this chapter shall govern the application for, and issuance of, any sign permit or sign file under this title.

18.24.20 Sign Files Or Sign Permits For Existing Signs, New Signs Or For Sign Modification¶
All applications for sign permits or sign files of any kind shall be provided by and submitted to the planning division. The application for construction, creation, or installation of a new sign, or for existing signs or modifications to existing signs shall be accompanied by the following:
An accurate indication on the plot plan of the location and dimensions of each present sign of any type, whether requiring a permit or not, to the extent that such details arc not shown on any previous permits or sign file issued under this title. Incidental and window signs need not be shown.
Detailed drawings showing the dimensions, design, structure and location of each new sign proposed.
Dimensions of building frontage, location of buildings, parking lots, driveways, and landscaped areas on such zone lot, and
Computation of the maximum total sign area and the number of freestanding signs allowed on the zone lot(s) included in the plan under this title (with assistance by planning staff).
One application and permit or sign file may include multiple signs on the same zone lot.

18.24.30 Consent¶
The sign permit or sign file shall be signed by all owners or their authorized agents in such form as the planning division shall require.

18.24.40 Fees¶
Each application for a sign permit shall be accompanied by the applicable fees, if required, which shall be established by the county board of supervisors from time to time by resolution.

18.24.50 Completeness¶
The planning division shall review the sign permit or sign file for completeness. If the planning division finds that it is complete, the application shall then be processed. If the planning division finds that it is incomplete, the division shall make available notice of specific ways in which the application is deficient.

18.24.60 Sign Permits And Sign Files; Continuing¶
The owner of a zone lot containing signs requiring any permit or sign file under this title shall at all times maintain in force a current and valid sign permit or sign file for such property. Sign permits or sign files shall be issued for individual zone lots.

18.24.70 Lapse Of Sign Permit Or Sign Files¶
In addition to Section 18.34.50 governing the lapse or denial of nonconforming sign permits or sign files, any sign permit or sign file shall lapse and become void within thirty days of notice from the county to the last premises, sent to the premises if any of the following apply:
The ongoing business activity on the premises is discontinued for a period of one hundred eighty days or more and is not renewed.
The sign or signs for which the permit or sign file was issued is altered or modified illegally, or
For off-site signs, the permit is not renewed within the specified time period.
