12.10.10 Campgrounds

Clifford Kamph Memorial Park, Ruby Van Deventer County Park, and Florence Keller Regional Park shall be available to the public for overnight camping and day use, subject to the rules and regulations established by this chapter.

12.10.20 Fees

Fees for overnight camping and day-use areas shall be established by the Board of Supervisors pursuant to ordinance and posted as part of the County Master Fee Schedule.

12.10.30 Reservations; Length Of Stay

  1. The picnic areas at Ruby Van Deventer County Park and Florence Keller Regional Park may be reserved in advance for exclusive use during daylight hours. "Daylight hours" means the hours between sunrise and sunset.

  2. All overnight campsites are available on a first come, first served basis. Campsites must be vacated by 11:00 a.m. unless payment is made for an additional night.

  3. No person may stay in a single park in excess of seven nights during any 30-day period. No person may stay in excess of 21 nights combined in all county parks in any 30-day period. No person may stay in excess of 90 nights combined in all county parks within a single calendar year.

12.10.40 Fees For Overnight Camping; Vehicles

The fee for the first night of stay must be paid upon arrival. The fee for each subsequent night must be paid by 11:00 a.m. the morning prior to the night of the intended stay. The nightly fee includes two vehicles. The fee for each additional vehicle is $5.00 per night. All fees must be deposited into the locked receptacle provided at the campground.

12.10.50 General Campground Rules

The following rules shall be observed at all parks at all times:

  1. All camping must be done in a designated campsite.

  2. Day-use in designated areas only. Day-use guests must vacate the park by sunset.

  3. Each campsite may contain one large tent (sleeping 5 or more persons) or two smaller tents.

  4. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.

  5. All fires must be in designated fire rings, and may never be left unattended without being thoroughly extinguished.

  6. Gathering firewood is prohibited.

  7. Pets must be kept on a leash and never left unattended.

  8. No person in a campground shall disturb the peace of any other person in the campsite or in a nearby private home at any time. A quiet time shall be observed from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.

  9. Campsites must be kept clean at all times. Trash must be placed in designated trash receptacles. There shall be no dumping of household trash.

  10. Smoking in bathrooms or within twenty-five (25) feet of a playground area is prohibited.

  11. The smoking or ingesting of cannabis or cannabis products is prohibited in all park areas.

  12. "Dangerous fireworks" as defined by California Health and Safety Code Section 12505, and "safe and sane fireworks" as defined by California Health and Safety Code Section 12529, are prohibited at all times.

12.10.60 Park Property

No person in a park shall:

  1. Enter any park area posted “closed.”

  2. Willfully mark, deface, disfigure, injure, tamper with, displace or remove any building, bridge, table, bench, fireplace, railing, paving material, water line or other public utility or parts or appurtenances thereof, sign, notice or placard whether temporary or permanent, monument, stake, post, fence, gate, or other boundary marker, other structure or equipment, facility or park property, or appurtenances whatsoever, either real or personal.

  3. Remove any beach sand, whether submerged or not, or soil, gravel, rocks, trees, shrubs or plants, or make any excavation by tool, equipment, blasting or other means or agency unless performed pursuant to direction from the County.

  4. Damage, cut, carve, transplant or remove a tree or plant, or injure the bark or pick any flowers or seeds of any tree or plant; attach any rope, wire or other contrivance to any plant nor attach any wire, nail or other contrivance to any tree; dig in or otherwise disturb grass areas or in any other way injure or impair the natural beauty or usefulness of any area, unless performed pursuant to direction from the County.

  5. Appropriate, excavate, injure, destroy or remove any historic or prehistoric ruin or monument or any object or antiquity, unless performed pursuant to direction from the County.

  6. Remove wood from any County park or collect firewood within any County park.

  7. "Dangerous fireworks" as defined by California Health and Safet Code Section 12505, and "safe and sane fireworks" as defined by California Health and Safety Code Section 12529, are prohibited within any Count park.
