2.28.010 Peace officers standards and¶
training - Aid. The board of supervisors declares that it desires to qualify to receive aid from the state under provisions of Chapter I of Title 4, Part 4 of the California Penal Code. (Ord. 405 § 1, 1962; prior code § 7- 1.0).
2.28.020 Peace officers standards and¶
training - Recruitment and training standards.
Pursuant to Section 13522 of Chapter I, the
county, while receiving aid from the state
pursuant to said Chapter I will adhere to the
standards for recruitment and training
established by the California Commission on
Peace Officers Standards and Training. (Ord.
405 § 2, 1962; prior code § 7-1.1).
2.28.025 Corrections and probation officers¶
standards and training. While receiving any state aid pursuant to Article 3 (Commencing with Section 6040) of Chapter 5 of Title 7 of Part 3 of the Penal Code, the county will adhere to the standards for recruitment and training established by the Board of Corrections. (Ord. 1113 § 1, 1980; prior code § 2-7.0).
2.28.027 Public safety dispatcher standards¶
and training. The county declares that it desires to qualify to receive aid from the state of California under the provisions of Section 13522, Chapter 1 of Title 4, Part 4 of the California Penal Code for its public safety dispatcher personnel. Pursuant to Section 13510 (c), Chapter 1 of the Penal Code, the county will adhere to standards for recruitment and training established by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). Pursuant to Section 13512, Chapter 1, the Commission and its representatives may make such inquiries as deemed appropriate by the Commission to ascertain that the county's public safety dispatcher personnel adhere to standards for selection and training established by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. (Ord. 1661 § 1, 1988).
2.28.030 Sheriff - Powers to adopt rules and¶
regulations. The sheriff is granted and shall have the power to adopt all reasonable rules and regulations for the control and administration of his/her department. (Ord. 409 § 1, 1962; prior code § 2-3.2).
2.28.040 Sheriff - Punishment of violations.¶
For any violation of rules property adopted hereunder, the sheriff shall have the power to punish employees by suspension with loss of pay. (Ord. 409 § 2, 1962; prior code § 2- 3.3).
2.28.050 Jail labor authority - Exception.¶
Any, or all, prisoners confined in the county jail under judgment of conviction of a misdemeanor or as probationers, may be compelled to labor upon the public works, public grounds, roads, streets, alleys, highways or public buildings, or in such other places as may be deemed advisable in the county, for the benefit of the county; provided, that no prisoner shall be compelled to so labor who may be physically unable to do so, or whose safekeeping may be endangered thereby, the question of exception from such labor for either cause mentioned to be determined by the sheriff of the county. "Labor upon the public works," as used in this section, shall include among other things clerical and menial labor in the county jail. The labor provided for in this chapter shall be performed in such places and
in such manner as the sheriff and board of supervisors from time to time direct. (Ord. 2060 § 1, 1994).
