14.12.010 Purpose. The purpose of this¶
chapter is to establish guidelines for the collection and maintenance of cultural resources data within Tuolumne County. (Ord. 2280 § 17 (part), 1999).
14.12.020 Tuolumne County Database of¶
Cultural Resources.
A. The Tuolumne County Database of Cultural Resources shall be consulted pursuant to Section 14.10.040 and as part of the environmental review process for all discretionary projects.
B. The Tuolumne County Database of Cultural Resources includes:
GLO Plat maps, pre-1950 United States Geological Survey topographic quadrangle maps, 1906 Thom Map, 1882 Beauvais Map, 1879 Dart Map, official townsite maps, Sanborn Maps, Cultural Resources Inventories of Big Oak Flat, Groveland, Columbia, Jamestown, Soulsbyville, Chinese Camp, Tuolumne, the Contextual History of Tuolumne County and other inventories as they are completed by the historic preservation review commission. (Ord. 3035 § 6, 2009).
Tuolumne County's geographic information system parcel-based database of cultural resources distributed throughout the county and the county's hard copy resource library of cultural resource studies conducted within the county, which is kept on file in the planning division of the community development department.
C. Additional sources of information may be consulted as necessary and include, but are not limited to: the Tuolumne County Assessor's office, the Tuolumne County Recorder's office, resource professionals and other resource agencies.
D. This database shall be maintained and
updated with information from the California
Historical Resources Information System at least
once each year. The database shall be
continually updated to include new cultural
resources information as it becomes available.

14.12.030 County Archive. The county will¶
designate a repository to serve as a county archive after consultation with the historic preservation review commission. (Ord. 2280 § 17 (part), 1999).
14.12.040 County-Sponsored Cultural¶
Resources Inventories. To ensure protection of private property rights; encourage property owners to participate in local, state and federal incentive programs; and to protect the county's valuable cultural resources, the following are required for all county-sponsored cultural resources inventories:
A. Parcel-owner notification shall occur prior to commencing a county-sponsored cultural resources inventory. Parcel owner consent shall be obtained prior to entry onto a parcel.
B. All county-sponsored cultural resources inventories shall be conducted in compliance with the inventory standards established by the State Office of Historic Preservation.
C. Upon completion of each county- sponsored cultural resources inventory conducted by a qualified professional in Tuolumne County, the community development department shall provide each participating property owner with a copy of the evaluation of his property, inform the parcel owner if the parcel contains resources which qualify for listing on the National Register of Historic Places, the California Register of Historical Resources, or the Tuolumne County Register of Cultural Resources, include a list of incentive programs available to listed properties including information on the application procedures for listing in these registers and for pursuing incentives pursuant to this section.
D. Upon completion of each county-
sponsored cultural resources inventory, the
historic preservation review commission may
identify potential historic districts and schedule
public hearings to gauge community interest in
forming historic districts. (Ord. 3035 § 7,
