2-1030 - AUTOMOBILES.
The mileage allowance for the use of personal vehicles on County business shall be paid according to the rate allowed by the Internal Revenue Service and shall be adjusted to reflect changes in this rate at the beginning of the first full bi-weekly pay period following announcement of the changed rate by the Internal Revenue Service.
When approved by the County Administrator, a Member of the Board of Supervisors may elect to be provided with a County vehicle or receive a vehicle allowance of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) per month for the use of their own vehicle. Supervisors who receive the one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) monthly allowance shall not receive the regular County mileage reimbursement allowance of the rate allowed by the Internal Revenue Service per mile, except when traveling outside of the geographic boundaries of the San Joaquin County on County business.

2-1031 - SALARY.
Effective July 29, 2024, each member of the Board of Supervisors shall receive as compensation for services as a Supervisor of the County of San Joaquin, bi-weekly salary which is equal to seventy percent (70%) of California Superior Court Judges, which equates to six thousand four hundred twenty dollars and fifty-seven cents ($6,420.57) biweekly. Each July 15, the Director of Human Resources shall review the current compensation of the California Superior Court Judges and bring to the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Supervisors, or as soon as thereafter practicable, an agendized proposal for Board approval to increase the bi-weekly compensation of the members of the Board of Supervisors, if their current salary is no longer seventy percent (70%) of the Judge's salary.

2-1032 - ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION FOR CHAIRMAN.
The Chairman of the Board of Supervisors shall receive as additional compensation for the additional duties as Chairman the sum of twelve percent (12%) of base salary.

2-1033 - FRINGE BENEFITS.
In addition to the compensation provided in Section 2-1031 of this code, each member of the Board of Supervisors shall be entitled to receive all health insurance benefits, retirement benefits, and other benefits applicable to County-elected officials classified as exempt from membership in any County representation unit and to which each member of the Board of Supervisors is or may be lawfully entitled.

2-1034 - REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES.
Each member of the Board of Supervisors shall be entitled to be reimbursed for actual and necessary expenses, including expenses for meals, incurred in the performance of his or her duties as supervisor. The Board of Supervisors may by resolution or order regulate such expenditures.

2-1050 - TRAINING OF SUPERVISORS-ELECT.
Upon the request of a supervisor-elect, the Board of Supervisors may, but need not, approve the expenditure of county funds for the training and orientation of the requesting supervisor-elect. Expenditures may be made for course fees, tuition, course materials, travel, hotels, and meals. The Board of Supervisors will approve only such training and orientation programs which it, in its discretion, deems beneficial to the exercise of supervisorial duties by newly elected supervisors. No payment will be made for expenditures which are other than, or beyond those, approved by the Board of Supervisors.
