Chapter 4 — AGE LIMITS

2-5400 - DEPUTY SHERIFF, DISTRICT ATTORNEY INVESTIGATOR AND DEPUTY MARSHAL SERIES.

(a)

This section is adopted pursuant to Government Code Section 31008 which allows the Board to set a minimum and maximum age limit for deputy sheriffs and other peace officers.

(b)

No person shall be appointed as a deputy sheriff, district attorney investigator, or deputy marshal prior to the day of that person's 21st birthday.

2-5401 - FIRE FIGHTER.

(a)

This section is adopted pursuant Government Code Section 31008 which allows the Board to set a minimum and maximum age limitation for the Fire Fighter Class.

(b)

There is hereby imposed a minimum age limitation of 21 years of age for hiring individuals in the Fire Fighter Class.

(c)

The term "21 years of age" is to be interpreted so that an individual will become eligible for appointment the day he reaches his 21st birthday.

(d)

There is hereby imposed a maximum age limitation of 35 years of age for hiring or reinstating individuals in the Fire Fighter Class.

(e)

The term "35 years of age" is to be interpreted so that an individual will become ineligible for appointment the day he reaches his 35th birthday.
