Chapter 1 — TOWNSHIP BOUNDARIES

2-9000 - DIVISION OF COUNTY.

The County of San Joaquin is hereby divided into eleven townships to be designated as Castoria, Dent, Douglass, Elkhorn, Elliott, Liberty, O'Neal, Ripon, Stockton, Tulare and Union.

2-9001 - CASTORIA TOWNSHIP.

Castoria Township of the County of San Joaquin, State of California, shall include all that portion of the county described as follows:

Beginning at the intersection of the centerline of the Jack Tone Road with the center of the Mariposa Road near the ¼ Section corner on the east line of Section 25, Township 1 North, Range 7 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian; thence northwesterly and westerly along the center of said Mariposa Road 2 miles, more or less, to its intersection with the center of the Austin Road near the northwest corner of Section 26, Township 1 North, Range 7 East; thence southerly along the center of Austin Road ½ mile to the center of Weber Road near the ¼ Section corner on the westerly line of said Section 26; thence westerly along the center of Weber Road 2 ⅛ miles, more or less, to the center of State Highway U.S. 99; thence northwesterly along the center of said State Highway U.S. 99 1 ½ miles to the center of Carpenter Road; thence southwesterly along the center of Carpenter Road 0.87 mile, more or less, to the southeast corner of Laurel Farms, a subdivision in Section 35 of the C. M. Weber Grant; thence southwesterly along the southerly line of said subdivision 0.55 mile to the southwest corner thereof, on the southerly line of the north ½ of the southwest ¼ of said Section 35 of the Weber Grant; thence southwesterly along said southerly line of the north ½ of the southwest ¼ of said Section 35 (being also along the southerly boundary of Sharps Lane Villas and Sharps Lane Villas No. 2, subdivisions in said Section 35) 0.24 mile to the center of Airport Way (formerly Durham Ferry Road and Sharpe Lane); thence southeasterly along the center of said Airport Way 1 mile, more or less, to its intersection with the center line of Sperry Road; thence southwesterly along the center of said Sperry Road 0.87 mile to its intersection with the center of McKinley Avenue; thence northwesterly along the center of said McKinley Avenue 0.9 mile to its intersection with the center line of Clayton Avenue of Mosswood Park, Map "C," a subdivision in Section 11 of the C. M. Weber Grant; thence southwesterly along the center of said Clayton Avenue and along the southerly line of Lot 1 of South Stockton Farms, ¾ mile, more or less, to the center of French Camp Slough; thence meandering the center

line of said French Camp Slough, downstream in a northwesterly direction 2 miles, more or less, to the center of the San Joaquin River; thence meandering the center line of said San Joaquin River in a general southerly direction 26 miles, more or less, to its intersection with the center line of the Stanislaus River at a point on the southerly boundary of San Joaquin County; thence along said southerly boundary of San Joaquin County, meandering the center line of said Stanislaus River in a general northeasterly direction, a distance of 3 ½ miles, more or less, to its intersection with the westerly line of the east ½ of Section 9, Township 3 South, Range 7 East; thence north along the ¼ section line through Sections 9 and 4 of Township 3 South, Range 7 East, and Sections 33, 28, 21, 16 and 9 of Township 2 South, Range 7 East, 5.6 miles, more or less, to the center of said Section 9, being in the center of Woodward Avenue; thence easterly along the center of said Woodward Avenue 1 ¼ miles, more or less, to the center of Moffat Boulevard (formerly State Highway U.S. 99); thence easterly along the northerly line of the south ½ of Sections 10, 11 and 12 of Township 2 South, Range 7 East, 2 ¼ miles, more or less, to the center of the Jack Tone Road; thence northerly along the center of the Jack Tone Road 9 miles, more or less, to the point of beginning.

2-9002 - DENT TOWNSHIP.

Dent Township of the County of San Joaquin, State of California, shall include all that portion of the county described as follows:

Beginning at the intersection of the center line of Mariposa Road with the center line of Jack Tone Road near the ¼ Section corner on the westerly line of Section 30, Township 1 North, Range 8 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian; thence southerly along the center of said Jack Tone Road 4 ½ miles, more or less, to the southwest corner of Section 18, Township 1 South, Range 8 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian; thence easterly along the southerly line of Sections 18, 17, 16 and 15, Township 1 South, Range 8 East, 4 miles to the intersection of the center line of Avena Road with the center line of Carrolton Road; thence southerly along the center of said Carrolton Road 5 ¾ miles, more or less, to its intersection with the center line of River Road; thence southerly along the westerly line of Sections 14 and 23, Township 2 South, Range 8 East, 1 ¼ miles, more or less, to a point on the southerly boundary of San Joaquin County in the center of the Stanislaus River; thence along said southerly boundary of San Joaquin County, meandering the center line of said Stanislaus River in a general easterly and northeasterly direction, 12 miles, more or less, to its intersection with the easterly boundary of San Joaquin County; thence northerly along said easterly boundary of San Joaquin County 8 ½ miles, more or less, to the intersection of said boundary with the center of Carter Road at the southeast corner of Section 36, Township 1 North, Range 9 East; thence westerly along the center of Carter Road, 4 miles to the center of Escalon-Bellota Road at the southwest corner of Section 33 of Township 1 North, Range 9 East; thence northerly along the center of Escalon-Bellota Road ½ mile to the center of Gawne Road at the ¼ Section corner on the westerly line of said Section 33; thence westerly along the center of said Gawne Road 6.10 miles, more or less, to its intersection with the center line of Mariposa Road near the ¼ Section corner on the easterly line of Section 32, Township 1 North,

Range 8 East; thence northwesterly and westerly along the center of said Mariposa Road 2 ⅛ miles, more or less, to the point of beginning.

2-9003 - DOUGLASS TOWNSHIP.

Douglass Township of the County of San Joaquin, State of California, shall include all that portion of the county described as follows:

Beginning at the intersection of the easterly boundary of San Joaquin County with the northerly line of Section 25, Township 3 North, Range 9 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian; thence southeasterly and southerly along said County boundary 14 ¼ miles, more or less, to the intersection of said boundary with the center of Carter Road at the southeast corner of Section 36, Township 1 North, Range 9 East; thence westerly along the center of Carter Road, 4 miles to the center of Escalon-Bellota Road at the southwest corner of Section 33 of Township 1 North, Range 9 East; thence northerly along the center of Escalon-Bellota Road ½ mile to the center of Gawne Road at the ¼ Section corner on the westerly line of said Section 33; thence westerly along the center of said Gawne Road 6.10 miles, more or less, to its intersection with the center line of Mariposa Road near the ¼ Section corner on the easterly line of Section 32, Township 1 North, Range 8 East; thence northwesterly and westerly along the center of said Mariposa Road 2 ⅛ miles, more or less, to its intersection with the center line of Jack Tone Road; thence northerly along the center of said Jack Tone Road 12 ½ miles, more or less, to the northwest corner of Section 30, Township 5 North, Range 8 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian; thence easterly along the northerly line of Sections 30, 29, 28, 27, 26 and 25 of Township 3 North, Range 8 East, and the northerly line of Sections 30, 29, 28, 27, 26 and 25 of Township 3 North, Range 9 East, a distance of 11 ¼ miles, more or less, to the point of beginning.

2-9004 - ELKHORN TOWNSHIP.

Elkhorn Township of the County of San Joaquin, State of California, shall include all that portion of the county described as follows:

Beginning at the intersection of the center line of the Mokelumne River with the center line of Bruella Road near the northwest corner of Section 34, Township 4 North, Range 7 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian; thence south along the center of said Bruella Road 1 ½ miles, more or less, to the center of State Highway 12; thence south along the westerly line of Sections 3, 10, 15 and 22 of Township 3 North, Range 7 East, 3 ½ miles, to the southwest corner of said Section 22; thence westerly ½ mile to the center of Alpine Road; thence southerly along the center of said Alpine Road 2 miles, more or less, to its intersection with the center line of the Eight Mile Road; thence west along the Center of said Eight Mile Road 7.65 miles, more or less, to the intersection of said Eight Mile Road with Thornton Road; thence west along the northerly line of Township 2 North, Range 6 East and the northerly line of Township 2 North, Range 5 East, 3 miles to the southwest corner of Section 35, Township 3 North, Range 5 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian; thence northerly along the westerly line of Sections 35, 26, 23, 14, 11 and 2 of Township 3 North, Range 5 East, and the westerly line of Sections 35 and 26 of Township 4 North, Range 5 East, 8 miles to the northwest corner of said Section 26; thence easterly 2 miles to the intersection of the center lines of Ray Road and Acampo Road at the Southwest corner of Section 19, Township 4 North, Range 6 East; thence northerly along the center of said Ray Road 2 miles to the center of the Walnut Grove Road; thence northerly along the westerly line of Section 7, Township 4 North, Range 6 East ½ mile, more or less, to the center of the Mokelumne River; thence meandering the center of said Mokelumne River upstream in a general southeasterly and easterly direction 12 miles, more or less, to the point of beginning.

Elliott Township of the County of San Joaquin, State of California, shall include all that portion of the county described as follows:

Beginning at the intersection of the center line of Bruella Road with the center line of Dry Creek, on the northerly boundary of San Joaquin County at or near the northeast corner of Section 33, Township 5 North, Range 7 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian; thence easterly along the northerly boundary of said San Joaquin County 11 ½ miles, more or less, to the northeast corner thereof; thence southeasterly along the easterly boundary of said San Joaquin County, 15 miles, more or less, to its intersection with the northerly line of Section 25, Township 5 North, Range 9 East; thence westerly along the northerly line of Sections 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30 of Township 3 North, Range 9 East, the northerly line of Sections 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30 of Township 3 North, Range 8 East, and the northerly line of Sections 25, 26 and 27 of Township 3 North, Range 7 East, 14.25 miles, more or less, to the southwest corner of Section 22, Township 3 North, Range 7 East; thence northerly along the west line of Sections 22, 15, 10 and 3 of Township 3 North, Range 7 East, 3 ½ miles, more or less, to the intersection of State Highway 12 and Bruella Road; thence continuing northerly, along the center line of Bruella Road to the center of the Mokelumne River; thence meandering the center line of said Mokelumne River upstream in an easterly and northeasterly direction 2 miles, more or less, to its intersection with the center line of the Tretheway Road; thence northerly along the center of said Tretheway

Road 2 ¼ miles, more or less, to its intersection with the center of Peltier Road; thence westerly along the center of said Peltier Road 1 ½ miles to the center of the Bruella Road at the southwest corner of Section 15, Township 4 North, Range 7 East; thence northerly along the center of said Bruella Road 4 miles, more or less, to the point of beginning.

Liberty Township of the County of San Joaquin, State of California, shall include all that portion of the county described as follows:

Beginning at the intersection of the center line of Dry Creek with the center line of the Mokelumne River, on the northerly boundary of San Joaquin County and near the northeast corner of Section 3, Township 4 North, Range 5 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian; thence meandering the center of said Dry Creek, and being along the northerly boundary of San Joaquin County, 11 ¾ miles, more or less, to its intersection with the center line of Bruella Road at or near the northeast corner of Section 33, Township 5 North, Range 7 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian; thence south along the center, of said Bruella Road 4 miles to its intersection with the center line of Peltier Road at the southeast corner of Section 16, Township 4 North, Range 7 East; thence east along the center of said Peltier Road 1 ½ miles to its intersection with the center line of Tretheway Road; thence southerly along the center of said Tretheway Road through Sections 23, 26 and 35 of Township 4 North, Range 7 East, 2 ¼ miles, more or less, to the center of the Mokelumne River; thence meandering the center o£ said Mokelumne River downstream in a general westerly and northwesterly direction 17 miles, more or less, to the point of beginning.

Beginning at a point in the center of the Jack Tone Road at or near the northeast corner of Section 25, Township 3 North, Range 7 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian; thence southerly along the center line of
