Editor's note— Ord. No. A-362, § 2, adopted Jan. 24, 2017, changed the title of chapter 2.95 from "mental health department" to "behavioral health and recovery services department."

2.95.010 - Created.

The behavioral health and recovery services department is established. The department shall undertake to execute and coordinate the implementation of policies and directives of the board of supervisors related to the provision of mental health services, substance use disorder programs, and administration of public conservatorship activities.

2.95.020 - Director.

The director of the behavioral health and recovery services department shall be appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the board of supervisors. The director of the behavioral health and recovery services department is designated as and shall be ex-officio public conservator. The director of the behavioral health and recovery services department shall, subject to the civil service system of the county, appoint such assistants and/or employees as are from time to time provided for the department by the ordinances of the county.
