2.48.010 - Established.

There is established in and for the county a delinquency prevention commission, pursuant to the provisions of Section 233 of the Welfare and Institutions Code of the State of California, to coordinate on a countywide basis the work of those governmental and nongovernmental organizations engaged in activities designed to prevent juvenile delinquency, and to perform such other duties as may from time to time be prescribed by law for such delinquency prevention commission.

2.48.020 - How constituted.

Until the board of supervisors may otherwise provide for the constitution of the delinquency prevention commission, the juvenile justice commission of Kern County is designated to serve, ex officio, in the capacity of delinquency prevention commission, and the persons now serving as members of the juvenile justice commission and their respective successors in office upon due qualification, shall be members of the delinquency prevention commission by virtue of their office. Except when the commission is constituted as provided in this section, the members thereof shall be appointed in the manner provided in Section 233 of the Welfare and Institutions Code of the State of California.

2.48.030 - Compensation.

During such time as said juvenile justice commission is designated to serve, ex officio, in the capacity of delinquency prevention commission, the sole compensation for services on said commission shall be such compensation as may be provided, from time to time, to members of said juvenile justice commission. Except as otherwise provided in this section, the compensation of members of the delinquency prevention commission shall be as authorized by law and as fixed by the board of supervisors.

2.48.040 - Reimbursement for expenses.

The members of the delinquency prevention commission shall be entitled to reimbursement for their actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their duties, subject to such limitations and procedures as are applicable to employees of the county under the provisions of this code and applicable provisions of law.

2.48.050 - Staff services and administrative expenses.

The probation officer of the county shall provide the necessary staff services to the delinquency prevention commission from time to time, except as may be otherwise provided by order of the board of supervisors. The commission shall hire employees and incur administrative expenses in the performance of its duties only when authorized by order of the board of supervisors.
