2.22.010 - Office created.¶
There is created within the county the office of public guardian.

2.22.020 - Powers and duties.¶
The powers and duties of the public guardian shall be as prescribed in the provisions of the Government Code.

2.22.030 - Designation of ex-officio public guardian—Bond.¶
In accordance with Section 27432 of the Government Code of the state of California, the director of the department of aging and adult services in and for the county of Kern is designated as and shall be ex-officio public guardian and all authority shall vest in the successor. In accord with the provisions of Section 27434 of the Government Code of the state of California, such public guardian shall procure and file an official bond in the amount of five thousand dollars ($5,000.00), which such bond shall inure to the joint benefit of the several guardianship estates and the county; and such public guardian shall not be required to file bonds in individual guardianship estates. The cost of such official bond shall be a proper charge upon the county.

2.22.040 - Creation of subordinate positions.¶
There are created such positions subordinate to the public guardian as may be necessary to enable the public guardian to properly prosecute and perform the powers and duties of his office; such subordinate positions shall be designated, and appointments of personnel made to fill such subordinate positions, in accord with the procedure set forth in the rules of the civil service commission of the county.

2.22.050 - Compensation.¶
The compensation to be paid for the services of the public guardian and the personnel serving in the positions subordinate to the public guardian shall be such compensation as shall be fixed by the salary ordinance of the county.
