Chapter 38 — CHIEF PROBATION OFFICER

Sec. 2-38.01. - Chief Probation Officer.¶
Pursuant to Welfare and Institutions Code Section 271, there is created within the merit system of the County of Siskiyou, State of California, the position "Chief Probation Officer." The position of Chief Probation Officer shall mean the person who is both the juvenile probation officer and the adult probation officer, pursuant to Section 215 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code and pursuant to Penal Code Section 1203.5; the Chief Probation Officer shall be the ex officio adult probation officer.

Sec. 2-38.02. - Appointment and salary.¶
The position of Chief Probation Officer shall be appointed by the Board of Supervisors, pursuant to Section 271 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code, and shall serve at the pleasure of the Board of Supervisors at a salary set by the Board of Supervisors.

Sec. 2-38.03. - Duties.¶
The duties of the Chief Probation Officer shall be as otherwise prescribed by law.

Sec. 2-38.04. - Qualifications.¶
The Chief Probation Officer shall be a person possessing all the qualifications provided for in Section 1031 of the California Government Code, and such qualifications as the Siskiyou Board of Supervisors may establish.

Sec. 2-38.05. - Applicable provisions.¶
The provisions of the Siskiyou County Personnel Rules adopted by the Board of Supervisors, as now exist and as may be amended, shall apply to the appointment and tenure of the Chief Probation Officer.
