B6-234. - Definitions generally.

Unless otherwise specifically provided, or required by the context, the following terms have the meanings set forth in this chapter. (Ord. 230 § 2 (Exh. A) (part), 1992)

B6-235. - Ambulance.

Ambulance means any privately owned vehicle specifically constructed, modified, equipped, or arranged and operated for ambulance service, and which responds or may respond to emergency calls in this city. (Ord. 230 § 2 (Exh. A) (part), 1992)

B6-236. - Ambulance service.

Ambulance service means the activity, business or service, for hire, profit, or otherwise, of transporting one or more patients by ambulance on or in any of the streets or any public way or place in the city. (Ord. 230 § 2 (Exh. A) (part), 1992)

B6-237. - Attendant.

Attendant means a trained and/or qualified individual who, regardless of whether he or she also serves as driver, is responsible for the care of ambulance patients and who has met all license and other applicable state laws and regulations. (Ord. 230 § 2 (Exh. A) (part), 1992)

B6-238. - Driver.

Driver means an individual who drives an ambulance and who has met all license and other requirements in applicable state laws and regulations. (Ord. 230 § 2 (Exh. A) (part), 1992)

B6-239. - Emergency response areas.

Emergency response areas means the areas within the city and the areas shown on the map entitled "Emergency Response Areas of Contra Costa County" on file in the office of the sheriff and the clerk of the board, and as it may be changed from time to time by the permit officer after public hearing. B6-240. - Emergency response area list(s).

Emergency response area list(s) means that list of permittee(s) for each emergency response area who have entered into an ambulance service agreement with the county and who will be contacted by the county communications center in accordance with regulations adopted by the permit officer to respond to calls for emergency ambulance services which it receives. Copies of the emergency response area list(s) shall be kept on file in the offices of the sheriff and the clerk of the board.

B6-241. - Health officer.

Health officer means the county health officer, or other official designated by the board to perform his or her functions under this chapter. (Ord. 230 § 2 (Exh. A) (part), 1992)

B6-242. - Medical director.

Medical director means the medical director of the Contra Costa County Hospital, or other official designated by the board of supervisors to perform his functions under this chapter. (Ord. 230 § 2 (Exh. A) (part), 1992)

B6-243. - Patient.

Patient means a person who is ill, sick, injured, wounded, infirm, incapacitated, helpless or otherwise in need of ambulance service. (Ord. 230 § 2 (Exh. A) (part), 1992)

Permit officer means the health officer. (Ord. 230 § 2 (Exh. A) (part), 1992)

B6-245. - Sheriff.

Sheriff means the sheriff of Contra Costa County. (Ord. 230 § 2 (Exh. A) (part), 1992)
