2.44.010 - Regular office hours.

All county offices shall remain open for the transaction of business during such times and periods as may be designated by resolution of the board of supervisors.

2.44.015 - County clerk office hours—Fees.

(a) The office of the county clerk may be open in addition to regular office hours established by Section 2.44.010 and as designated by the county clerk for the limited purpose of solemnizing marriages and issuing marriage licenses only.

(b) The fee for issuance of marriage licenses during such time period shall be that amount specified in Section 26840 of the Government Code plus five dollars.

2.44.020 - Office hours in certain departments.

The office of the sheriff, the fire department, the communications department, and juvenile hall shall keep their respective offices open for the transaction of business constantly.

2.44.030 - Holiday closing.

All the public offices of the county shall be closed on such holidays as are designated by the board of supervisors. In addition, the courts shall be closed for the transaction of judicial business on such holidays as are designated by state law. In such instances, the offices of their clerks shall remain open for the transaction and completion of nonjudicial business.

2.44.040 - Holidays designated.

(a) Regular holidays. The following are hereby designated as regular holidays within the county of Marin, for the purposes of this chapter:

The first day in January;

The third Monday in February;

The last Monday in May;

The fourth day of July;

The first Monday in September;

Veterans Day as designated by state law; Thanksgiving Day;

The Friday immediately following Thanksgiving Day;

December 24, starting at noon;

December 25, December 31, starting at noon;

and every day appointed by the President of the United States or the Governor of the state of California, for a public fast, thanksgiving or holiday upon which government offices will be closed.

(b) Weekend holidays. If a holiday, other than December 24 or December 31, falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the Friday preceding a Saturday holiday, or the Monday following a Sunday holiday, shall be deemed to be a holiday in lieu of the day observed.
