Chapter 2.22 — COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT

2.22.010 - Recognition.¶
There is in the county a communications department, hereinafter in this chapter referred to as the department.

2.22.020 - Executive officer.¶
The executive officer of the department is the director of communications, appointed by the board of supervisors.

2.22.030 - General powers and duties.¶
The director of communications shall perform the duties prescribed by state law, County Charter and ordinances not inconsistent therewith, which duties shall include, but not by way of limitation:
A.
Design, install, operate, repair and maintain county microwave terminals, portable, mobile and base radio stations; intercommunication, alarm and security, closed circuit television, public address, tape and music systems;
B.
Install, repair and maintain county-owned teleprinters, alarm and traffic control systems, medical telemetry devises, radios and traffic control systems for noncounty agencies which have maintenance agreements with the county;
C.
Process requests for telephone services received from county agencies, order required services from telephone companies and maintain appropriate records for billing and other purposes;
D.
Operate county's interoffice dial telephone system and county switchboards; review and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of telephone service provided to county agencies; plan and schedule telephone installations associated with office space modifications, organizational changes and functional relocations; formulate policy concerning procedures and operation of telephone equipment; plan, prepare and distribute the county telephone directory; provide for personnel training in the use of the county telephone system; process county telephone bills for payment.
