Chapter 2.54 — PERMITTING AND INSPECTION FEES

2.54.010 - Permitting and inspection fees.

Permitting and inspection fees shall be charged for the types of approval and at the rates listed below:

Permit Type Permit Fee 1 1/01/14—6/30/14

Utility trench — behind walkways, paths, sidewalks $100

Utility trench — for laterals and other services in the travel way $300

Utility trench — for main line <= 100 feet $1,500

Utility trench — for main line > 100 feet $1,500 +0.50/foot of trench

Existing driveway remove and replace to same grade and dimensions $100 as existing driveway

New driveway or widening and/or regrading of an existing driveway $519

Transportation Permit (as set by State law) $16 per trip one way $90 annual for one truck one route

Fences, barriers, landscaping, etc. $273

Street closure $100

Filming in County right of way $500 + $100/day of filming

Old sidewalks remove and replace (no changes) $100

New sidewalks, relocation, regrading, or widening $519

Old drainage facility (remove and replace in kind no excavation) $100

New drainage facility, modification, adjustment, upgrades, etc. $519

Tree removal near maintained public right of way $100

Tree removal near non-maintained public right of way $10

Monitoring well $546 + security deposit

Storage bin $150 each

Street sign and post $546 each

Fines and penalties for work without a permit $350/day ($10,500 max)

1 Fees shall have an automatic annual fee adjustment of 3% effective July 1 of each successive year.

Permitting and inspection fees shall be charged for the types of approval and at the rates listed in the table (with an automatic annual fee adjustment of 3% effective July 1 of each successive year until further

notice).

All fees listed above are non-refundable after issuance of permit.

2.54.020 - Penalties for unpermitted encroachments.

The Director of Public Works, acting as the County Roads Commissioner, may impose on the owner of the property underlying the County's public right of way, fines for encroachments without permit in the public right of way of equal to $350 per day for each day the unpermitted encroachment remains, such fines to commence on the fifth day following the date of mailing of a second notification to said property owner of the requirement that the encroachment be removed. Said second notification shall be mailed no earlier than 10 days after the date of mailing of the initial notification. The total fine amount shall not exceed $10,500. The Director of Public Works may seek collection of such fines through all lawful means.

2.54.030 - Waiver.

All or a portion of the fee or penalty amounts may be waived by the Director of Public Works when the Director determines it to be in the public interest to do so.
