Marin County Municipal Code Ch. 13.46 Street Names and House Numbers—tiburon Peninsula

Those streets, avenues and lanes shown upon the map entitled "A Portion of the Streets and Highways Master Plan, Marin County, California, known as Official House Numbering Map of Tiburon Peninsula" shall be known and designated by the names shown on said map.

That certain map entitled "A Portion of the Streets and Highway Master Plan, Marin County, California, known as Official House Numbering Map of Tiburon Peninsula," said map being filed in the office of the planning commission, is hereby adopted by the county of Marin both for house numbering purposes and for the purpose of naming and designating public streets, avenues and lanes in said area, provided, however, that the adoption of said map is not intended to act as an acceptance of streets whose dedication is not otherwise accepted, and as to such streets said official map is to be used for identification only.

All structures, abutting on any public street, avenue, drive, road, place or land on the Tiburon Peninsula shall be given and marked with an official number.

The numbers shall be in accordance with that certain map entitled "A Portion of the Streets and Highways Master Plan, Marin County, California, known as Official House Numbering Map of Tiburon Peninsula" as hereinbefore adopted. Numbers shall proceed from the smaller numbers as shown upon the map to the larger numbers. The even numbers shall be given to and placed upon structures fronting on the right side of streets and odd numbers shall be given to and placed upon structures fronting on the left side of streets. A number shall be assigned to every twenty-five feet of property frontage except that in outlying areas numbers marked (1) on the map indicate that a number shall be assigned to every fifty feet of property frontage. On sections of Tiburon Boulevard and Paradise Drive not shown on this map numbers shall be assigned to every fifty feet of property frontage. In case of doubt, or where a question arises as to the proper number to be assigned to any structure the planning commission or an officer or employee of said commission designated for such purpose, shall decide the question and fix the number of such structure.

The number plat, placed upon any building shall be metal or wood, or the number may be painted on the front of the building, door, post, transom or other place. The number shall be at least three inches in height and shall be so placed as to be easily seen from the street.

If the owner or lessee of any building shall fail, refuse or neglect to place the number or to replace it when necessary, the planning commission or an officer or employee of said commission designated for such purposes, and upon order of the board of supervisors, shall cause notice to be personally served on such owner or lessee or mailed by registered mail to his last known address, ordering him to place or replace the number. Such owner or lessee shall comply with such notice within ten days from the date of service.

If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this chapter is for any reason held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion of this chapter.

The board of supervisors hereby declares that it would have passed this chapter and each section, subsection, sentence, clause and phrase irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections, subsections, sentences, clauses or phrases be declared invalid.
