13.40.010 - Naming streets.

The streets hereinafter described shall be renamed and shall hereafter be known and designated as follows:

Margarita Avenue, as shown on "Map of Subdivision A of Golf Links Tract" as recorded in the office of the county recorder, county of Marin, in volume 2 of maps on page 107 is renamed "San Pablo Avenue."

Park Avenue as shown on "Map of Portola Gardens Unit One" as recorded in the office of the county recorder, county of Marin, in volume 6 of maps on page 42 is renamed "Garden Avenue."

Grant Avenue as shown on "Map of Subdivision A of Golf Links Tract" as recorded in the office of the county recorder, county of Marin, in volume 2 of maps at page 107 is renamed "Jefferson Avenue."

Lincoln Avenue as shown on "Map of Subdivision A of Golf Links Tract" as recorded in the office of the county recorder, county of Marin, in volume 2 of maps on page 107 is renamed "Madison Avenue."

That portion of Adrian Way between Meadow Drive and Vendola Canal as shown on the "Amended Map of Santa Venetia" as recorded in the office of the county recorder, county of Marin, in volume 4 of maps on page 75 is renamed "Meadow Way."

Alena Way and Harbor Drive as shown on "Map of Venetia Harbor" as recorded in the office of the county recorder, county of Marin, in volume 5 of maps on page 92 is renamed "Vendola Drive."

That portion of San Pedro Road, also known as San Pedro Avenue or Point San Pedro Road, between its northerly intersection with Redwood Highway (U. S. Highway 101) and the entrance to McNear's Beach is renamed "North San Pedro Road."

The road known as Hillcrest Drive south of San Pedro Road and intersecting San Pedro Road opposite Mabry Way and again at a point approximately three thousand three hundred feet northeast of said intersection is renamed "Crestview Drive."

13.40.020 - Adoption of official house numbering map.

That certain map entitled "A Portion of the Streets and Highways Numbering Map for Santa Venetia and Vicinity," said map being filed in the office of the planning commission is hereby adopted by the county of Marin, both for house numbering purposes and for the purpose of naming and designating public streets in said area, provided, however, that the adoption of said map is not intended to act as an acceptance of streets whose dedication is not otherwise accepted, and, as to such streets said official map is to be used for identification only.

13.40.030 - Fixing numbers.

All structures, abutting on any public street, avenue, drive, road, place of land in Santa Venetia and Vicinity shall be given and marked with an official number. The numbers shall be in accordance with that certain map entitled "A Portion of the Streets and Highways Master Plan, Marin County, California, Known as Official House Numbering Map of Santa Venetia and Vicinity" as hereinbefore adopted. Numbers shall proceed from the small number as shown upon said map to the larger number. The even numbers shall be given to and placed upon structures fronting on the right side of such streets. Beginning at the lowest even number and proceeding towards the highest even number, one such even number shall be given to each fifty feet of property frontage on the right side of the street. Beginning at the lowest odd number and proceeding towards the highest odd number, one such odd number shall be given to each fifty feet of property frontage on the left side of the street.

In case of doubt, or where a question arises as to the proper number to be assigned to any structure, the planning commission or an officer or employee of said commission, designated for such purpose, shall decide the question and fix the number of such structures.

13.40.040 - Numbers required.

The number plate, placed upon any building shall be metal or wood, or the number may be painted on the front of the building, door, post, transom or other place. The number shall be at least three inches in height and shall be so placed as to be easily seen from the street.

13.40.050 - Duty to affix number.

If the owner or lessee of any building shall fail, refuse or neglect to place the number, or to replace it when necessary, the planning commission or an officer or employee of said commission, designated for such purpose, and upon order of this board of supervisors, shall cause notice to be personally served on such owner or lessee or mailed by registered mail to his last known address, ordering him to place or replace the number. Such owner or lessee shall comply with such notice within ten days from the date of service.

13.40.060 - Severability.

If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this chapter is for any reason held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion of this chapter. The board of supervisors hereby declares that it would have passed this chapter and each section, subsection, sentence, clause and phrase irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections, subsections, sentences, clauses or phrases be declared invalid.
