13.24.010 - Definitions.

"Bicycle", "electric bicycle", "class 1 electric bicycle", "class 2 electric bicycle", "class 3 electric bicycle", "motorized bicycle" and "motor vehicle" shall be as defined in the California Vehicle Code Sections 231, 312.5, 406 and 415.

13.24.020 - Compliance with Vehicle Code.

Any person operating a bicycle, electric bicycle, or motorized bicycle within the county of Marin shall comply with all provisions of the California Vehicle Code which pertain to bicycles, electric bicycles, and motorized bicycles. Operation of bicycles, electric bicycles, or motorized bicycles upon County-maintained multi-use paths or bike paths, or within county parks is subject to Marin County Code Title 10, Chapter 10.05.

13.24.030 - Bicycles prohibited on sidewalk.

(a) No person shall ride a bicycle upon the sidewalk within a business district which is zoned for that purpose.

(b) No person fourteen or more years of age shall ride a bicycle on any sidewalk in any district.

(c) The board of supervisors may specify by resolution sidewalks that are exempt from the above bicycle riding prohibitions. Sidewalks which are specified as exempt shall have a maximum speed limit of fifteen miles per hour, unless otherwise posted.
