2.76.010 - Application—To be filed.¶
Any person, corporation, or association conducting a special event or occurrence where supplemental law enforcement are necessary and desired to preserve the peace, may file an application therefor with the Monterey County Sheriff.

2.76.020 - Application—Filing deadline—Contents.¶
A. An application for supplemental law enforcement services shall be filed with the Sheriff at least five days prior to the need therefor.
B. The application shall set forth:
The name and address of the person applicant;
The name and address of the person to be in charge;
The time and place of the public assemblage;
A general description of the activity to be conducted, and if a dance the name of the band;
The number of persons expected to attend;
The number of deputies and supervisors desired.

2.76.030 - Sheriff to determine necessary number of officers and fee.¶
The Sheriff may agree to provide as many peace officers for supplemental law enforcement services as are, in his or her judgement and discretion, necessary to protect the public peace, safety, morals, and welfare. The Sheriff shall notify the applicant of the number and rank of peace officers to be assigned and which, in the Sheriff's opinion, are necessary and available, and he or she shall notify the applicant of the fee therefor.

2.76.040 - Duty assignment.¶
A. Peace officers assigned under this Chapter shall perform those duties normally performed by a peace office in conformity with established Monterey County Sheriff's orders and procedures. Peace officers who volunteer for duty under this Chapter may be assigned under this Chapter for work in addition to that performed during their regular working hours.
B. The Sheriff shall assure that the provision of supplemental law enforcement services will not reduce the normal and regular ongoing level of service(s) that the Sheriff's Department would otherwise provide.
C. The services rendered pursuant to this Chapter shall be rendered by regularly appointed full-time peace officers, as defined in Penal Code Section 830.1, or as negotiated with the respective certified employee organizations.

2.76.050 - Determination and payment of estimated fee.¶
A. All supplemental law enforcement services provided shall be reimbursed to the County at their actual cost, as determined by the County's Auditor-Controller.
B. At least fifteen (15) working days before the time when the supplemental law enforcement services are to be provided, the applicant shall pay to the County of Monterey through the Sheriff the estimated fee for such supplemental law enforcement services at the rate(s) set by resolution of the Board of Supervisors from time to time.
C. At least fifteen (15) working days before the time when the supplemental law enforcement services are to be provided, the applicant shall pay to the County of Monterey through the Sheriff the estimated fee for such use of Sheriff's vehicles as shall be set by resolution of the Board of Supervisors. Within ten (10) working days after the event, the Sheriff shall send an adjusted final bill for the supplemental law enforcement services actually provided to the responsible individual or organization.

2.76.060 - Compensation—Computation.¶
A. Compensation paid by the County of Monterey to peace officers for supplemental law enforcement services, if said services are performed outside of regular assignments and regular working hours, shall be in addition to the regular salary of the individual and shall be computed at rates to be set by resolution of the Board of Supervisors.
B. Compensation paid by the County of Monterey to peace officers for supplemental law enforcement services as set forth in this Chapter shall be full reimbursement for all services performed under this Chapter.
C. Peace officers assigned to provide supplemental law enforcement services during regular working hours shall be compensated in accordance with their regular rate of pay and the rules and regulations applicable thereto.

2.76.070 - Compensation—Certification—Payment.¶
A. Supplemental law enforcement compensation earned by peace officers under this Chapter shall be certified by the Sheriff to the Auditor-Controller once each calendar quarter, in such form and with such supporting detail as may be required by the Auditor-Controller.
B. Compensation so earned and certified shall be paid not later than the next regular County payroll for the period commencing after receipt by the Auditor-Controller of the Sheriff's certification.

2.76.080 - Additional law enforcement services prohibited except in accordance with Chapter.¶
Peace officers employed by Monterey County are prohibited from performing supplemental law enforcement services for public or private individuals or organizations, whether in or out of uniform, except in conformity with the provisions of this Chapter.

2.76.090 - Exclusive means for supplemental law enforcement services.¶
This Chapter shall provide the exclusive means for assigning and compensating the provision of supplemental law enforcement services by peace officers, as set forth under this Chapter. The Sheriff may assign peace officers to work outside of their regular working hours under this Chapter without other approval.
