2.20.010 - Office established.¶
There is established the office of county executive officer for the county of Imperial (hereinafter referred to herein as "C.E.O.").

2.20.020 - Qualifications for office.¶
The C.E.O. shall be chosen upon the basis of that knowledge and those skills set forth in a job description previously approved by the Board of Supervisors.

2.20.030 - Conditions of employment.¶
A. Appointment and Tenure. The C.E.O. shall be appointed by a three-fifths vote of the board of supervisors. The C.E.O. shall serve at the pleasure of the board of supervisors.
B. Salary and Benefits. The salary of the C.E.O. shall be established by the board of supervisors through an employment contract and be paid by the auditor-controller in the same manner as the salaries of other county employees.
C. With the exception of subsection (D), the provisions of conditions of section 3.32.040 shall not apply to the C.E.O.
D. The C.E.O. shall be employed by contract, the term of which shall be set forth in the contract and shall include an early termination clause pursuant to a majority vote of the board of supervisors.

2.20.040 - Duties and responsibilities.¶
A. The primary duties and responsibilities of the C.E.O. shall be those duties set forth in the contract of employment and the C.E.O. job description approved by the board of supervisors. The board of supervisors may assign the C.E.O. additional duties and responsibilities,
B. The C.E.O. shall supervise all appointive department heads. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the C.E.O. shall not supervise the county counsel, clerk of the board of supervisors, or equal employment opportunity officer.

2.20.050 - Limitations on provisions of chapter.¶
Notwithstanding any provisions of this chapter to the contrary, it is the intent of the board of supervisors that none of the provisions of this chapter shall be construed to in any way infringe upon any of the statutory duties, rights and authorities of any elected county officer.

2.20.060 - Vested rights.¶
In the event that this chapter is, at a future date, modified or repealed, the rights granted herein shall be vested to the C.E.O. so appointed or holding office prior to any such modification.
