A grantor trust may be set up by a living person or by an organization or created by a will. All, or a portion of the income from the trust, is taxable income of the grantor. The Grantor's share of trust income, deductions, and credits are not reported on Form 1041 return, but are shown on a separate statement that is attached to Form 1040 return. The assets of the trust are treated as owned by the grantor.
