Monterey County Municipal Code Ch. 12.64 Bus Loading Zones

Curb space is set aside for the loading and unloading of passengers of buses engaged as common carriers at the places described in Sections 12.64.020 through 12.64.050; and, pursuant to Sections 21458 and 22500 of the Vehicle Code, no person, except the driver of such a bus, shall stop, park, or leave standing any vehicle, whether attended or unattended, alongside any of such curb spaces, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a peace officer or official traffic-control device. The Director of Transportation of the County of Monterey is directed to indicate said places by appropriate signs or red paint on the curbs, or both.

Bus loading zones in the Carmel area are as follows:

On the west side of Camino Del Monte, between the curb return of Alta Avenue and the first driveway, approximately one hundred (100) feet generally south thereof;

On the east side of Camino Del Monte, between the first driveway and the second driveway generally north of Santa Fe;

On the west side of Carpenter Street, between the first driveway southerly of State Highway 1 and a point sixty-five (65) feet northerly thereof;

On the east side of Carpenter Street, between the curb return of Lower Trail and a point sixty-five (65) feet northerly thereof;

On the west side of Carpenter Street, between the first driveway and the second driveway generally south of Valley Way;

On the east side of Carpenter Street, between the end asphaltic concrete berm generally north of Valley Way and a point sixty-five (65) feet generally north thereof;

On the south side of Rio Road, between the curb return of Oliver Road and a point sixty-five (65) feet generally east thereof;

On the north side of Rio Road, between the crosswalk at Oliver Road and a point sixty-five (65) feet generally west thereof;

On the south side of Serra Avenue, between the crosswalk at Santa Rita street and a point sixty-five (65) feet generally east thereof;

On the south side of Serra Avenue, between the curb return of Cabrillo Street and a point sixty-five (65) feet generally east thereof;

On the north side of Serra Avenue, between the curb return of Guadalupe Street and a point sixty-five (65) feet generally west thereof;

On the south side of Serra Avenue, between the curb return of Guadalupe Street and a point sixty-five (65) feet generally east thereof.

On the east side of Carmel Rancho Boulevard, between the first driveway and the second driveway generally north of Rio Road;

On the west side of Carmel Rancho Boulevard, between the first driveway generally north of Rio Road and a point sixty-five (65) feet generally south thereof;

On the east side of Carmel Rancho Boulevard, in front of Brintons Hardware in Carmel Rancho Shopping Center;

On the west side of Carmel Rancho Boulevard, between the south end of the driveway to United California Bank to a point sixty-five (65) feet south thereof;

On the south side of Carmel Valley Road, between the school crosswalk at Rio Vista Drive and a point sixty-five (65) feet east thereof;

On the south side of Carmel Valley Road, between the east side of Rio Road extension and a point sixty-five (65) feet east thereof;

Bus loading zones in the Blanco Road area are as follows:

On the east side of the raised island on Blanco Road at Reservation Road, from Reservation Road generally north for a distance of sixty-five (65) feet;

On the east side of Blanco Road, beginning one hundred fifty (150) feet north of the easterly curb return at Reservation Road and running generally north for sixty-five (65) feet;

On the south side of Blanco Road, at Cooper Road, beginning at the prolongation of the eastern wall of the Blanco Store and running generally west for sixty-five (65) feet;

On the north side of Blanco Road, beginning one hundred (100) feet west of the westerly curb return of Cooper Road and running generally west for sixty-five (65) feet;

On the northwest corner of Blanco Road, in the island area at Davis Road;

On the south side of Blanco Road, beginning one hundred fifty (150) feet east of the easterly curb return at Davis Road and running generally east for sixty-five (65) feet;

On the north side of Blanco Road, beginning one hundred (100) feet west of the westerly curb return at Alisal Street and running generally west for sixty-five (65) feet.

On the south side of Portola Drive, between the east side curb return at Serra Way and a point eighty (80) feet east thereof;

On the south side of Portola Drive, from a point two hundred (200) feet west of Darcie Lane extending eighty (80) feet to the west of said point;

On the south side of Portola Drive, from the south side curb return at Creekside Terrace to a point eighty (80) feet west thereof;

On the south side of Portola Drive, from a point two hundred (200) feet west of the return at Reservation Road and extending eighty (80) feet to the west of said point;

On the north side of Portola Drive, from the west side curb return at Creekside Terrace to a point eighty (80) feet west thereof;

On the west side of Porter Drive, beginning eighty-five (85) feet south of San Juan Road, southerly for forty (40) feet;

On the west side of Porter Drive, six hundred sixty-five (665) feet south of San Juan Road, southerly for forty (40) feet.
