12.56.000 - Definitions.¶
As used in this Chapter, the term "skateboard" shall mean any board or other flat object which has wheels attached to it by any means whatsoever and which is intended to be propelled by pushing, pulling, or the forces of gravity. For the purpose of this Chapter, the term "skateboard" shall also mean roller skates or roller blades.

12.56.010 - Prohibited on certain roadways.¶
No person shall ride or propel a skateboard upon the roadways of any of the following roads at any time:
A. On the east side of Mercurio Road, the adjacent concrete drainage ditch, beginning four hundred ninety-six (496) feet north of Carmel Valley Road, and, ending nine hundred one (901) feet north of Carmel Valley Road.
B. Olmstead Road/Jacks Peak Drive.

12.56.015 - Prohibition of skateboards on private property.¶
No person riding on a skateboard shall ride upon any private property when appropriate signs giving notice thereof have been posted on such private property. The sign shall be approved both as to wording and place of posting by the Sheriff.

12.56.020 - Prohibition of skateboards on public property.¶
A. No person shall ride or propel a skateboard upon property owned by the County of Monterey when such property displays a sign prohibiting such use. The County Administrative Officer shall determine which County owned property, or portion thereof shall be subject to this ordinance.
B. Signs so limiting the use of public property shall be placed at entrances to such public property, as determined by the County Administrative Officer or the County Administrative Officer's designee, and which are accessible to pedestrians. The signs shall be substantially similar to the signs approved by the Sheriff pursuant to Section 12.56.015 of this code.
