12.12.010 - Designated.

The Board of Supervisors of the County of Monterey having determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic survey that the vehicle speed limit of sixty-five (65) miles per hour is more than is reasonable or safe upon those highways, or portions of highways, described in this Section, determines and declares the prima facie vehicle speed limits designated in this Section for each of said described highways, or portions of highways, which speed limits it finds most appropriate to facilitate the orderly movement of traffic and to be reasonable and safe, and the Director of Transportation of the County of Monterey is directed to erect and maintain appropriate speed restriction signs, as specified by the California Vehicle Code, at the outside entrances of the restricted speed zones described in this Section:

Abbott Street, for its entire length, fifty-five (55) miles per hour;

Arroyo Seco Road, from a point thereon two-tenths of a mile southerly from the existing location of the resort known as Millers Lodge, northerly to a point thereon two-tenths of a mile northerly from said resort, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Arroyo Seco Road, from a point thereon one mile north of the existing location of the resort known as Arroyo Center, south for a distance of eight-tenths of a mile, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Arroyo Seco Road, from a point thereon two-tenths of a mile north of the existing location of the resort known as Arroyo Center, south to Monterey County Bridge No. 326 on said highway, twenty-five (25) miles per hour;

Berta Canyon Road, in its entire length, thirty (30) miles per hour;

Blackie Road, in Castroville, from its intersection with State Highway 183 generally east to a point five hundred (500) feet east of the centerline of its most eastern intersection with Commercial Parkway, forty (40) miles per hour;

Blackie Road, in Castroville, from its intersection with State Highway 183 generally east to a point five hundred (500) feet east of the centerline of its most eastern intersection with Commercial Parkway, forty (40) miles per hour;

Blackie Road, from a point seven hundred (700) feet west of the centerline of Molly Road, easterly to its intersection with State Highway 101, forty-five (45) miles per hour;

Blanco Road, from a point one thousand two hundred (1,200) feet west of the centerline of Davis Road, easterly to the city limits of the City of Salinas, fifty (50) miles per hour;

Boronda Road, from its intersection with Madison Lane generally north to Brooks Road, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Bradley Road, in Bradley, from a point five-hundred (500) feet west of the centerline of Hall Street generally east to a point five-hundred (500) feet east of the centerline of Sargents Road, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Cabrillo Street, from its intersection with Serra Avenue, generally south to its intersection with Pico Avenue, twenty-five (25) miles per hour;

Calle del Adobe, from the city limits of the City of Salinas, westerly to a point five hundred (500) feet west of the centerline of Post Drive, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Calle del Adobe, from Boronda Road, easterly to a point five hundred (500) feet west of Post Drive, forty-five (45) miles per hour;

Canada Drive, from a point three-tenths of a mile northeast of Rio Vista Drive generally northeast to its intersection with Outlook Drive, twenty-five (25) miles per hour;

Carmel Rancho Boulevard, for its entire length, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Carmel Valley Road, from its intersection with State Highway 1 easterly to a point seven hundred (700) feet west of its intersection with Carmel Rancho Boulevard, forty-five (45) miles per hour;

Carmel Valley Road, from its intersection with Carmel Rancho Boulevard easterly to its intersection with Via Petra Road, fifty-five (55) miles per hour;

Carmel Valley Road, from its intersection with Via Petra Road generally easterly to its intersection with Laureles Grade, fifty (50) miles per hour;

Carmel Valley Road, from its intersection with Laureles Grade generally east to its intersection with County Club Drive, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Carmel Valley Road, from its intersection with Country Club Drive generally east to mile post 12.9, twenty-five (25) miles per hour;

Carmel Valley Road, from mile post 12.9 generally east to its intersection with Valle Vista, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Carpenter Street, from its intersection with State Highway 1, generally southwest to the city limits of Carmel-by-the-Sea, thirty (30) miles per hour;

Carpenteria Road, in Aromas, from a point three hundred (300) feet north of Seely Avenue northerly for a distance of one thousand eight hundred (1,800) feet, more or less, to the southerly boundary of the existing twenty-five (25) miles per hour speed zone located approximately one hundred (100) feet south of Carr Street, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Cattlemen Road, near San Lucas, from a point one-thousand, seven-hundred and fifty (1,750) feet generally northwest of its intersection with Lockwood San Lucas Road generally east to a point eight-hundred and seventy (870) feet generally southeast of said intersection, forty (40) miles per hour;

Cattlemen Road, near San Ardo, from a point eight hundred twenty-five (825) feet generally north of its intersection with Railroad Street to a point one hundred seventy-five (175) feet generally southwest of its intersection with Rico Street, forty (40) miles per hour;

Charter Oak Boulevard, in the Oak Hills Subdivision, from its more eastern intersection with Oak Hills Drive generally west to its terminus with Cockle Bur Court, twenty-five (25) miles per hour;

Country Meadows Road, for its entire length, twenty-five (25) miles per hour;

Commercial Parkway, for its entire length, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Corral de Tierra Road, from State Highway 68 generally south to a point one hundred (100) feet south of the centerline of Castlerock Road, fifty (50) miles per hour;

Corral de Tierra Road, from a point one hundred (100) feet south of the centerline of Castlerock Road generally south to Robley Road, forty (40) miles per hour;

Corral de Tierra Road, from Robley Road generally south for a distance of 1.16 miles, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Crazy Horse Canyon Road, from State Highway 101, southerly to a point five hundred (500) feet south of the centerline of Audrey Lane, forty-five (45) miles per hour;

Davis Road, from Blanco Road generally north to the city limits of Salinas, forty-five (45) miles per hour;

East Blanco Road, for its entire length, fifty-five (55) miles per hour;

Echo Valley Road, from its intersection with Maher Road, generally east to its intersection with State Highway 101, forty (40) miles per hour;

Flanders Drive, from its intersection with State Highway 1 to Morse Drive, twenty-five (25) miles per hour;

Grant Street, in Chualar, for its entire length, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Hall Road, from a point one thousand (1,000) feet generally east of Elkhorn Road to a point one thousand two hundred (1,200) feet generally west of Sill Road, forty-five (45) miles per hour;

Harper Canyon Road, for its entire length, thirty (30) miles per hour;

Harris Road, in Spreckels, from Spreckels Boulevard generally east for a distance of eight hundred (800) feet, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Hebert Road, from a point three hundred (300) feet generally south of its intersection with Middlefield Road generally north to its intersection with San Juan Grade Road, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Inter-Garrison Road, from its intersection with Reservation Road generally southwest to the terminus of the County right-of-way, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Josselyn Canyon Road, for its entire length, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Langley Canyon Road, from its intersection with San Miguel Canyon Road generally northeast to a point five hundred (500) feet southwest of Dot Avenue, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Laureles Grade, from its intersection with Carmel Valley Road northerly to a point five hundred (500) feet north of the centerline of Miramonte Road, forty-five (45) miles per hour;

Lewis Road, from its intersection with Salinas Road generally east to a point five thousand one hundred (5,100) feet east of Salinas Road, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Maher Road, from its intersection with Tarpey Road generally south to its intersection with Echo Valley Road, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Meridian Road, from its intersection with Castroville Boulevard easterly to State Highway 156, twenty-five (25) miles per hour;

Moro Road, from its intersection with San Miguel Canyon Road generally north to its intersection with Lavender Lane, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Old Stage Road, from its intersection with Natividad Road generally south to a point four hundred (400) feet south of Old Natividad Road, forty-five (45) miles per hour;

Paradise Road, from its intersection with San Miguel Canyon Road to its intersection with Walker Valley Road, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Pesante Road, from the existing twenty-five (25) miles per hour speed zone two thousand two hundred twenty (2,220) feet east of State Highway 101, easterly to its terminus, forty-five (45) miles per hour;

Pico Avenue, from its intersection with Cabrillo Street, generally west to its intersection with Camino Del Monte, twenty-five (25) miles per hour;

Pine Canyon Road, near King City, between Jolon Road and a point two thousand nine hundred fifty (2,950) feet south of Merritt Street, forty-five (45) miles per hour;

Portola Drive, in the Toro area, from its intersection with Reservation Road generally south to its terminus, thirty (30) miles per hour;

Prunedale North Road, for its entire length, forty (40) miles per hour;

Prunedale South Road, from Reese Circle to Prunedale North Road, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Reservation Road, on Reservation Road, from a point one thousand five hundred (1,500) feet east of Davis Road to a point one thousand one hundred forty (1,140) feet west of Davis Road, forty-five (45) miles per hour;

Reservation Road, from the City Limits of Marina (milepost 0.0) generally southeast to milepost 0.82, fifty-five (55) miles per hour;

Reservation Road, from milepost 0.82 generally southeast to a point six hundred eighty-five (685) feet southeast of the centerline of East Garrison Drive (milepost 1.72), fifty (50) miles per hour;

Rio Road, from its intersection with State Highway 1 generally southeasterly to its intersection with Carmel Rancho Boulevard, twenty-five (25) miles per hour;

Rio Vista Drive, from Canada Drive to Arriba Del Mundo Drive, twenty-five (25) miles per hour;

River Road, from its intersection with River Court generally east to its intersection with Pine Canyon Road, forty-five (45) miles per hour;

Rogge Road, from a point three-hundred (300) feet south of Bollenbacher Drive generally north to its intersection with San Juan Grade Road, thirty (30) miles per hour;

Russell Road, from North Main Street, generally east to a point seven hundred fifty (750) feet west of San Juan Grade Road, forty-five (45) miles per hour;

Russell Road, from a point seven hundred fifty (750) feet west of San Juan Grade Road generally south to its intersection with San Juan Grade Road, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Salinas Road, from Elkhorn road intersection to one thousand feet (1,000) west of the intersection with Bay Farms Road, forty-five (45) miles per hour;

San Benancio Road, from its intersection with State Highway 68 generally southeast to a point one thousand (1,000) feet generally southeast of its intersection with Paseo Hermoso, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

San Juan Grade Road, from a point two hundred (200) feet southwest of Stirling Road to a point two hundred (200) feet northeast of Hebert Road, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

San Juan Grade Road, from its intersection with the boundary of the City of Salinas generally east to a point one thousand (1,000) feet generally west of its intersection with Russell Road, forty-five (45) miles per hour;

San Juan Grade Road, from a point one thousand (1,000) feet west of Russell Road generally east to a point one thousand (1,000) feet east of Rogge Road, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

San Juan Road, in Pajaro, from its intersection with Porter Drive generally east to its intersection with Susan Street, thirty-five (35) miles per hour; and from Susan Street generally east to its intersection with Allison Road, forty-five (45) miles per hour;

San Juan Road, from a point four hundred thirty (430) feet south of the centerline of Aromas Road, northerly to a point 0.50 miles north of the centerline of Aromas Road, fifty-five (55) miles per hour;

San Miguel Canyon Road, from its intersection with State Highway 101 generally north to its intersection with Langley Canyon Road, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

San Miguel Canyon Road, from a point two hundred fifty (250) feet south of the centerline of Wilson Way to its intersection with Hall Road, forty-five (45) miles per hour;

San Miguel Canyon Road, from its intersection with Tarpey Road generally north to San Juan Road, forty-five (45) miles per hour;

San Miguel Canyon Road, from a point 0.26 mile west of Tarpey Road generally east to its intersection with Tarpey Road, forty-five (45) miles per hour;

South Boundary Road, in Laguna Seca Recreation Area, from the park boundary at the city limits of Monterey, generally east 1.70 miles to a point 1.13 miles west of the entrance gate to the Laguna Seca Raceway, forty (40) miles per hour;

South Boundary Road, in Laguna Seca Recreation Area, from a point 1.13 miles west of the entrance gate to Laguna Seca Raceway, generally east 1.08 miles to a point two hundred fifty (250) feet west of the entrance gate to Laguna Seca Raceway, thirty (30) miles per hour;

Spence Road, from HWY 101 generally East to its intersection with Boozer Lane, twenty-five (25) miles per hour;

Tustin Road, for its entire length, forty (40) miles per hour;

Valley Greens Drive, from its intersection with Carmel Valley Road generally southwest to its terminus, thirty-five (35) miles per hour;

Vierra Canyon Road, on Vierra Canyon Road, from State Highway 156 easterly to its terminus, thirty-five (35) miles per hour.

Watkins Gate Road, in the East Garrison community, in its entire length, twenty-five (25) miles per hour; and

12.12.015 - Speed limits on bridges and structures designated.

As provided in the California Vehicle Code Sections 22402—22404, the maximum speed, not less than five miles per hour, may be determined to maintain safety to any bridge, elevated structure, tube, or tunnel. The Director of Transportation of Monterey County is directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs on both ends of the following bridges and structures:

Mill Creek Bridge No. 540 (State No. 44C-0164), five miles per hour for vehicles exceeding a gross weight of vehicle and greater load than twenty (20) tons;

North Fork Little Sur Bridge No. 547 (State No. 44C-0019), five miles per hour for vehicles exceeding a gross weight of vehicle and load greater than ten (10) tons;

Schulte Road Bridge No. 501, five miles per hour for vehicles exceeding a gross weight of vehicle and load greater than ten (10) tons;

South Fork Little Sur Bridge No. 548 (State No. 44C-0020), five miles per hour for vehicles exceeding a gross weight of vehicle and load greater than ten (10) tons;

Turner Creek Bridge No. 536, (State No. 44C-0163), five miles per hour for vehicles exceeding a gross weight of vehicle and greater load than twenty (20) tons.
