12.04.005 - Director of Transportation.

Director of Transportation as used in this Title means the County Director of Transportation as defined in Sections 2.27.030 and 2.28.040 of Title 2 of the Monterey County Code or their designee.

12.04.010 - No violation if no sign—When.

No provision of this Title for which signs or curb markings giving notice thereof are required is effective unless such signs or curb markings are in place as herein directed.

12.04.020 - Director of Transportation to do curb painting.

Whenever this code or any other ordinance of the County of Monterey provides for the indicating of parking regulations by the use of paint upon curbs, the Director of Transportation of said County is directed to perform and maintain such painting.

12.04.030 - State highways—Approval of regulations.

Any provision of this code which regulates traffic or delegates the regulation of traffic upon state highways, in any way for which the approval of the Department of Transportation is required by state law, shall cease to be operative six months after receipt by the County Board of Supervisors of written notice of withdrawal of approval of the Department of Transportation.

12.04.040 - State highways—Approval of exercise of authority.

Whenever this Title delegates authority to a County officer, or authorizes action by the County Board of Supervisors to regulate traffic upon a state highway in any way for which state law requires the prior approval of the Department of Transportation, no such officer shall exercise such authority nor shall such action by the County Board of Supervisors be effective with respect to any state highway, without the prior approval in writing of the Department of Transportation when and to the extent required by the Vehicle Code.

12.04.050 - Special permits.

All of the powers and discretion granted to the Board of Supervisors by Article 6 (commencing with Section 35780), Chapter 5, Division 15 of the California Vehicle Code relating to the issuance of the permits specified therein are delegated to the Director of Transportation. In requiring a bond, undertaking, or other security in connection with the issuance of any such permits, the Director of Transportation shall comply with any applicable resolutions of the Board of Supervisors relating thereto.

12.04.060 - Penalty for violation.

Every person who violates any provision of this Title is guilty of an infraction, and upon conviction thereof, shall be punished in the manner specified in Section 42001 of the California Vehicle Code, as amended from time to time.
