6241 - False reports.

Whoever, in any matter within the jurisdiction of any department or agency of the County of Ventura knowingly falsifies, conceals or covers up by any trick, scheme or device any fact, or makes any false, fictitious or fraudulent statement of entry is guilty of a misdemeanor. This section shall not apply to any reports covered by Section 148.5 of the Penal Code of California.

6243 - Trespassing.

It shall be unlawful for any person without the permission, express or implied, of the owner, tenant or person, firm or corporation in lawful possession or control thereof to enter into, upon, on or across the posted property of another.

6243-1 - Posted property defined.

As used in this Article, "posted property" means any property at each corner of which, at each entrance to which, and where the area of such property exceeds in area one acre at intervals of not more than three hundred feet along or near the boundaries thereof, three feet above the normal ground level, there is a substantial sign of wood, metal, or other equally substantial material, the face of which is not less than one square foot in area, upon which in legible letters not less than two inches in height, either black against a white background or white against a black background, appear the words "PRIVATE PROPERTY—NO TRESPASS" and such other words as may be desired indicating that trespassers are subject to prosecution, and which property is used exclusively or principally for any one or more of the purposes set forth in Sections 6243-2 through 6243-3.7.

6243-2 - Permissible posting uses. 6243-2.1 - Airport. 6243-2.2 - Airplane landing field. 6243-2.3 - The testing of aircraft of any type or kind. 6243-2.4 - The manufacture of aircraft of any type or kind. 6243-2.5 - The assembly of aircraft of any type or kind. 6243-2.6 - Wells for the production of oil, gas or other hydrocarbons. 6243-2.7 - Drilling for oil, gas or other hydrocarbons. 6243-2.8 - Storage of oil, gas or other hydrocarbons. 6243-2.9 - Compressor plants for transmitting oil, gas or other hydrocarbon substances through pipe lines. 6243-3 - Permissible posting uses continued. 6243-3.1 - Mud plants used in connection with drilling for oil, gas or other hydrocarbon products. 6243-3.2 - Water wells, supplying water for residents of cities and towns. 6243-3.3 - Storage reservoirs or tanks for storage of water for supplying the residents of cities or towns. 6243-3.4 - Processing plants for processing the water supply for residents of cities or towns. 6243-3.5 - Electric generation plants. 6243-3.6 - Electric substations or distributing stations. 6243-3.7 - Uses appurtenant or incidental to any of the uses described in the preceding subsections. 6243-4 - Towns, defined.

As used in this section "towns" shall include unincorporated centers of population.

6243-5 - Violations.

Every person is guilty of a separate offense for each day during any portion of which he enters upon or remains upon such property.

6243-6 - Exception.

The provisions of Section 6243 et seq. do not apply to an entry in the course of duty by any peace officer.

6244 - Refrigerators, iceboxes and deepfreeze lockers.

It is unlawful for any person to leave or to allow to remain in any place accessible to children any refrigerator, icebox or deepfreeze locker having a capacity of 1-1/2 cubic feet or more which is temporarily not being used without removing the door or such portion of the latch or locking mechanism as will prevent the latching or locking of the door, or without taking reasonable precautions to effectively secure the door to prevent children from entering into such refrigerator, icebox or deepfreeze locker.

6245 - Offensive filthy person.

Any person who appears or remains in a public place in a condition by reason of filth on his clothes or body that would reasonably offend the ordinary sensibilities of others is guilty of a misdemeanor. In any prosecution hereunder, it shall be a defense if the person in such condition did not have a reasonable opportunity to remedy the condition before the time of arrest.

6248 - Unclaimed bicycles or toys.

Any bicycles or toys, or both, in the possession of the Sheriff which have been unclaimed for a period of at least three months may, at the discretion of the Sheriff and instead of being sold at public auction to the highest bidder pursuant to the provisions of Section 2080.5 of the Civil Code, be turned over to the Probation Officer or to the Welfare Department for use in any program of activities designed to prevent juvenile delinquency in accordance with Section 516 of the Welfare and Institutions Code.

6249 - Juvenile loitering.

No person under the age of eighteen years shall loiter in or about a public street or other public place or place open to the public between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. of any day when not accompanied by his parent or legal guardian having legal custody and control of such person, or by the spouse over eighteen years of age of such person.

6249-1 - Parent's acts.

No parent, guardian, or other person having legal custody or control of any person under the age of eighteen years shall aid, abet or encourage such person described in Section 6249 to violate said section.

6249-2 - Definition.

The word "loiter" as used in Section 6249 is defined to mean to idle, to loaf, to stand idly by, or to walk, drive or ride about aimlessly.

6249-3 - Violations.

Each and every violation of the provisions of Sections 6249 and 6249-1 is a misdemeanor and is punishable by a fine not exceeding five hundred dollars or by imprisonment not exceeding six months or by both such fine and imprisonment.
