15-71 Policy

These rules set forth in the procedures regarding suspension, demotion, reduction in pay or discharge of a regular employee for disciplinary purposes. (Res. No. 7-7-87-2, Rule X, (part).)

15-72 Written Notice

The city manager/department head shall give written notice of any proposed disciplinary action to the employee at the time of the disciplinary action. Such notice shall include a statement of the reason(s) for the proposed action and the charge(s) being considered. An employee receiving written notice of termination shall be placed on five days relief of duty with pay. (Res. No. 7-7-87-2, Rule X, (part).)

15-73 Employee Review

The employee shall be given an opportunity to review the documents or materials upon which the proposed disciplinary action is based. If practicable, the employee shall be given a copy of the documents. (Res. No. 7-7- 87-2, Rule X, (part).)

15-74 Employee Response

Within ten days after the employee has received written notice as provided in these rules, the employee shall have the right to respond orally or in writing to the city manager concerning the proposed action. (Res. No. 7- 7-87-2, Rule X, (part).)

15-75 Relief Of Duty

Upon approval of the city manager, the employee may receive leave with pay, not exceed five days, pending completion of investigations (or opportunity to respond) as may be required to determine sever disciplinary action, i.e., termination. (Res. No. 7-7-87-2, Rule X, (part).)

15-76 Appeal

A regular employee may appeal a disciplinary action by requesting in writing an administrative hearing before the city manager or the personnel board by filing a written request with the city clerk within ten days of the imposition of the action. (Res. No. 7-7-87-2, Rule X, (part).)
