Where solid-fuel cooking equipment is to be vented, the duct system shall be in accordance with Section 517.0.

For SI units: 1 inch = 25.4 mm, 1 foot = 304.8 mm

Notes:

  1. Fresh air intake (FAI) applies to an air intake, including an operable door or window.

  2. Example: (a) FAIs 1 and 5 are on the same plane of exhaust or lower: 10 feet (3048 mm) min. between closest edges. (b) FAIs 2, 3, and 4 are above plane of exhaust fan: 10 feet + 0.25 feet (3048 mm + 76 mm) per degree between closest edges.
