2.60.010 - Recognition.¶
There is in the county a weights and measures department, hereafter in this chapter referred to as the department.

2.60.020 - Executive officer.¶
The executive officer of the department is the sealer of weights and measures, appointed by the Board of Supervisors.

2.60.030 - General powers and duties.¶
The sealer of weights and measures shall have the power to perform the duties of inspection and enforcement of state laws and ordinances not inconsistent therewith relating to standards for weighing and measuring devices, and cause inaccuracies or deficiencies to be corrected. Such duties shall include, but not by way of limitation:
A. To inspect, at least annually, each commercial weighing and measuring device used within the county, and, subject to the approval of the Board of Supervisors, to establish from time to time a schedule of fees to cover the cost of any additional inspections done at the request of an owner of such device and to charge and collect the fees;
B. To inspect packaged commodities of all kinds for net contents and legality of labeling;
C. To inspect electric meters, rental car odometers and taximeters;
D. To inspect petroleum advertising activities;
E. To inspect weighmaster activities;
F. Upon written request, to calibrate, test, weigh, measure and certify to the accuracy of, noncommercial weights and measures and weighing and measuring devices, and instruments, tools, and accessories therewith, and subject to approval by the Board of Supervisors, to establish from time to time a schedule of fees to cover the costs of such services and to charge and collect the fees.
