2.52.010 - Recognition.¶
There is in the county a registrar of voters department, hereafter in this chapter referred to as the department.

2.52.020 - Executive officer.¶
The executive officer of the department is the registrar of voters, appointed as provided in the Charter.

2.52.030 - Powers and duties.¶
The registrar of voters shall discharge all duties vested by general law in the county clerk which duties relate to and are a part of the election procedure, including but without limitation on the generality of the foregoing, the following duties:
A. To compile and maintain a register of voters according to voter precinct, together with a printed index to the register for use at all elections within the county;
B. To conduct state, county, and special and local elections;
C. To receive, check and file nominations papers of candidates for election;
D. To prepare ballots and supplies for state, county, district and local elections;
E. If director by the board of supervisors, to canvass the returns of election;
F. To check and certify as to the validity of signatures appended to initiative, referendum and recall petitions presented to him as required by the general laws;
G. To prepare and publish notices of election and lists of offices for which candidates are to be nominated;
H. By order of the board of supervisors, to publish lists of the names of election officers appointed and the polling places designated for each election precinct, to establish and revise voting precincts, to provide for the first tabulation of returns on election night, to certify to an abstract of result of the canvass for transmission to the Secretary of State, and to issue certificates of election to such candidates as may have been elected to nonpartisan offices or county central committees.
