2.112.010 - Office hours.¶
County officers shall keep their offices open for the transaction of business continuously from eight-thirty a.m. until five p.m. of each Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, holidays excepted.

2.112.020 - Offices to be staffed during all office hours.¶
The executive officer of each department shall be responsible for insuring that a sufficient staff, including an authorized deputy or administrative assistant, will be on duty during all office hours, including the hours of twelve noon to one p.m. in order to carry out the business of the department.

2.112.030 - Exceptions—How determined.¶
The board of supervisors may, upon its own initiative or upon the request of the executive officer of any department, authorize or direct by resolution that branch offices, institutions or other public offices shall be open on such days of the week and during such hours as public convenience and necessity may require.

2.112.040 - Work schedule and shift changes.¶
The head of each department and office shall prepare a schedule showing the hours each employee and appointive officer of the county in his department or office is to work. Except under unforeseeable circumstances, the head of each department and office shall make every reasonable effort to assure that no employee shall have more than one change of shift in any work week and that the employee shall be off duty no less than twelve (12) hours prior to working the new shift.

2.112.050 - Workday and workweek.¶
The normal workday for persons employed within classifications designated "M" by the salary ordinance shall be eight hours and the normal workweek shall be forty (40) hours, except as follows:
A. Employees who are assigned to 24-hour shifts in the field services section of the sheriff's office shall have a normal workweek of fifty-six (56) hours.
B. Employees in classifications whose workday and workweek are specified in the applicable memorandum of understanding not incorporated in this code.
C. Part-time employees who are in classifications not covered by a memorandum of understanding, the normal workday and workweek shall be those specified in the memorandum of understanding applicable to the closest comparable classification so covered.
D. Employees in job codes ("JC") 8533, 8535, and 8536 have a defined work period of 14-calendar days coinciding with the regular county pay period, on a recurring basis, and work eighty (80) hours in a work period. Employees in the aforementioned job codes meet the definition of employees engaged in law enforcement activities pursuant to Fair Labor Standards Act, 29 United States Code Section 207(k) and 29 Code of Federal Regulations Section 553.211.

2.112.060 - Rest periods.¶
Each employee shall be granted a rest period of fifteen (15) minutes during each work period of more than three hours duration; provided, however, the rest periods are not scheduled during the first or last hour of such period of work. No wage deduction shall be made nor time off charged against employees taking authorized rest periods nor shall any rights or overtime be accrued for rest periods not taken. There is no obligation upon the county to provide facilities for refreshments during the rest periods, or for procurement thereof.
