2.10.010 - Recognition.

There is in the county an agricultural department, hereafter in this chapter referred to as the department.

2.10.020 - Executive officer.

The executive officer of the department is the agricultural commissioner, appointed by the board of supervisors.

2.10.030 - General powers and duties.

The agricultural commissioner shall perform the duties prescribed by state law and ordinances not inconsistent therewith, which duties shall include, but not by way of limitation:

A. To act as the county enforcement officer to protect the interests of the agricultural producer and consumer in the county and state;

B. To enforce the state rules, regulations and county ordinances which seek to prevent the introduction or spread of injurious insects, animals, pests, plant diseases and noxious weeds;

C. To prevent fraud and deception in the packing, labeling and other phases of marketing or agricultural products;

D. When any violations of the ordinances relating to garbage, rubbish and refuse come to his attention, to report them to the health officer.

2.10.040 - Employees—Special qualifications.

The agricultural commissioner and all deputies employed in the department shall have certificates of eligibility in full force and effect as prescribed by the Agricultural Code of the state.
