Editor's note— Section 1 of Ord. No. 3539, adopted Aug. 20, 1985, repealed existing § 1-2-272, derived from Ord. No. 3028, § 1, enacted Jan. 3, 1978. Section 2 of Ord. No. 3539 added § 1-2-272 to separate the offices of County Clerk and County Recorder. Section 3 of Ord. No. 3539 provided that §§ 1 and 2 of the ordinance be operative at 12:00 noon on Jan.5, 1987, or upon the creation of a vacancy in the consolidated office of County Clerk/Recorder of the County of Orange, whichever occurs first. Section 1 of Ord. No. 3028, adopted Jan. 3, 1978, amended the Code by adding art. 21 to div. 2 of title 1, § 1-2-272, separating the offices of County Clerk and Recorder, operative as of 12:00 noon on Jan. 3, 1979, per § 2 of the ordinance. Section 1 of Ord. No. 3897, adopted Sept. 14, 1993, repealed § 1-2-272; and § 2 added a new section, consolidating the offices. Section 3 declared §§ 1, 2 operative as of 12:00 noon on Jan. 2, 1995.

Sec. 1-2-272. - Consolidation of the offices.

Under the authority of California Government Code section 24300, the Board of Supervisors hereby consolidates the duties of the Offices of County Clerk and Recorder.
