Joining methods for vitrified clay pipe and fittings shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation instructions and shall comply with Section 705.8.1. 705.8.1 Mechanical Joints. Mechanical joints shall be designed to provide a permanent seal and shall be of the mechanical or push-on joint type. The push-on joint shall include an elastomeric gasket that complies with ASTM C425 and shall provide a compressive force against the spigot and socket after assembly to provide a permanent seal.
