2.36.010 - Holidays enumerated.

The following days, or portions thereof, shall be holidays for employees of the city, and city offices shall be closed except that the city manager shall make provision for the continuance of essential public services on such days:

A. January 1st, known as New Year's Day; the third Monday in January; the third Monday in February; 2 hours on the Friday before Easter for certain represented employees; the last Monday in May; July 4th, known as Independence Day; the first Monday in September, known as Labor Day; the eleventh day of November, known as Veterans Day; Thanksgiving Day and the Friday thereafter if Thanksgiving Day falls on a Thursday; December 25th, known as Christmas Day; and any day appointed by the President of the United States or the governor of California for a public holiday;

B. When a day listed in this section falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be deemed to be a holiday in lieu of the day observed;

C. When a day listed in this section falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be deemed to be a holiday in lieu of the day observed;

D. Four hours for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve on the last regularly scheduled work day preceding the day observed as a legal holiday for Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Administrative application of the above shall be by direction of the city manager;

E. City offices will be closed for the transaction of business on every Saturday and Sunday.
