10.04.010 - Generally.

In this title, the terms set out in this chapter shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this chapter.

10.04.020 - Bicycle.

"Bicycle" means a vehicle.

10.04.030 - Business district.

"Business district" means that portion of a highway and the property contiguous thereto upon one side of which highway, for a distance of six hundred feet, fifty percent or more of the contiguous property fronting thereon is occupied by buildings in use for business; or upon both sides of which highway, collectively, for a distance of three hundred feet, fifty percent or more of the contiguous property fronting thereon is so occupied. A business district may be longer than the distances specified in this section if the above ratio of buildings in use for business to the length of the highway exists.

10.04.040 - Crosswalk.

"Crosswalk" means that portion of the roadway included within the prolongation of curb and property lines at street intersections.

10.04.050 - Intersection.

"Intersection" means the area embraced within the prolongation of the property lines of two or more streets which join at an angle, whether or not one such street crosses the other.

10.04.060 - Loading zone.

"Loading zone" means that space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers or materials.

10.04.070 - Official warning and direction signs and signals.

"Official warning and direction signs and signals" means all warning and direction signs and signals not inconsistent with this title placed or erected under this title or by authority of the council before or after the effective date of the adoption of this code.

10.04.080 - Operator.

"Operator" means any person who is in actual physical control of a vehicle or streetcar.

10.04.090 - Park.

"Park" means to stand a vehicle for a period of time greater than is reasonably necessary for the actual loading or unloading of persons or materials.

10.04.100 - Pedestrian.

"Pedestrian" means any person afoot.

10.04.110 - Right-of-way.

"Right-of-way" means the privilege of the immediate use of the street.

10.04.120 - Roadway.

"Roadway" means that portion of a street between the regularly established curblines.

10.04.130 - Safety zone.

"Safety zone" means that marked portion of a roadway reserved for the exclusive use of pedestrians.

10.04.140 - Sidewalk.

"Sidewalk" means that portion of a street between the curblines and the adjacent property lines.

10.04.150 - Street.

"Street" means every way set apart for public travel except alleyways, bridle paths and footpaths.

10.04.160 - Traffic.

"Traffic" means pedestrians, vehicles and streetcars, either singly or together, while using any street for purposes of travel.

10.04.170 - Vehicle.

"Vehicle" means every device or animal by which any person or property is or may be transported or drawn upon a street, excepting devices moved by human power or used exclusively upon rails.
