14-17.1500 Standards for off-street parking facilities.

All off-street parking facilities shall conform with standards established by the Public Works Department as outlined in the City of Watsonville Public Improvement Standards Manual.

14-17.1501 Off-street truck loading space requirements.

(a) In any district, in connection with every building or part thereof hereafter erected or having a floor area of 10,000 square feet or more, which building is to be occupied by manufacturing, storage, warehousing, a hospital, or other uses similarly requiring the receipt or distribution by vehicles of materials or merchandise, there shall be provided and maintained off-street truck loading and unloading spaces in accordance with the following table:

(b) In any district allowing retailing or wholesale, truck loading spaces shall be provided for retail establishments and uses similarly requiring the receipt and distribution by vehicles of material or merchandise. The minimum size of truck spaces shall be twelve (12') feet by twenty-four (24') feet. The number of spaces shall be based on the gross floor area listed in the table set forth in this section, except that each facility containing less than 10,000 square feet of gross floor area shall provide one truck space.

14-17.1502 Standards for off-street truck loading facilities.

All off-street truck loading facilities shall conform with the development standards established by resolution of the Council.

14-17.1503 Restrictions on uses.

Off-street loading facilities for one use shall not be considered as providing required off-street loading facilities for any other use.

14-17.1504 Enlargement or alterations.

At the time of the initial occupancy, major alteration, or enlargement of a site, or of the completion of the construction of a building or a major alteration or enlargement of a building, there shall be provided off-street loading facilities in accordance with the schedule of off-street loading space requirements set forth in Section 14-17.1501 of this article. For the purposes of this section, the terms “major alteration” or “enlargement” shall mean a change of use or an addition which would increase the number of loading spaces required by not less than ten (10%) percent of the total number required. The number of loading spaces provided for a major alteration or enlargement of a site or building shall be in addition to the number existing prior to the alteration or enlargement, unless the pre-existing number is greater than the number set forth in Section 14-17.1501 of this article, in which instance the number in excess of the prescribed minimum shall be counted in calculating the number provided to serve the major alterations or enlargement.

14-17.1505 Distinction in use.

Space allocated to any off-street loading space while so allocated shall not be used to satisfy the space requirements for any off-street parking facility. All power loading and unloading shall be done on private property and not on public streets.
