§ 11.02.010. Definitions of words and phrases.

  • A. The words and phrases used in this title shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this chapter.

  • B. Whenever any words or phrases used in this title are not defined herein, but are now or hereafter defined in the Vehicle Code, such definitions are incorporated herein and shall be deemed to apply to such words and phrases used in this chapter as though set forth herein in full.

§ 11.02.020. Bus loading zone.

"Bus loading zone" means the space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles operated by a public carrier during the loading or unloading of passengers. (Ord. 1748 § 1, 1983)

§ 11.02.030. City.

"City" means the City of Roseville. (Ord. 1748 § 1, 1983)

§ 11.02.040. Council.

"Council" means the council of the City of Roseville. (Ord. 1748 § 1, 1983)

§ 11.02.050. Curb.

"Curb" means the lateral boundary of the roadway whether such curb be marked by curbing construction, or not so marked. The word "curb" as used in this chapter shall not include the line dividing the roadway of a street from parking strips in the center of a street, nor from tracks or rights-of-way of public utility companies. § 11.02.060. Director.

"Director" means the public works director of the City of Roseville or designee. (Ord. 1748 § 1, 1983; Ord. 2738 § 1, 1993; Ord. 5279 § 8, 2014)

§ 11.02.070. Freight loading zone.

"Freight loading zone" means a space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of commercial vehicles during the loading or unloading of materials. (Ord. 1748 § 1, 1983)

§ 11.02.080. Holidays.

For the purpose of this title only, "holidays" shall be as specified in Section 6700 of the

California Government Code, as the same now exists or may hereafter be amended. (Ord. 1748 § 1, 1983)

§ 11.02.090. Loading zone.

"Loading zone" means the space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers or materials. (Ord. 1748 § 1, 1983)

§ 11.02.100. Official time standard.

Whenever certain hours are named in this chapter, they shall mean standard time or daylight saving time as may be in current use in the city. (Ord. 1748 § 1, 1983)

§ 11.02.110. Parking meter.

"Parking meter" means a mechanical device installed within or upon the curb or sidewalk area, immediately adjacent to a parking space, for the purpose of controlling the period of time occupancy of such parking meter space by any vehicle is permitted. (Ord. 1748 § 1, 1983)

§ 11.02.120. Parkway.

"Parkway" means that portion of a street other than a roadway or sidewalk. (Ord. 1748 § 1, 1983)

§ 11.02.130. Passenger loading zone.

"Passenger loading zone" means the space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers. (Ord. 1748 § 1, 1983)

§ 11.02.140. Pickup.

"Pickup" means to take aboard a load or cargo of the type or kind that the vehicle is designed to haul.

§ 11.02.150. Police officer.

"Police officer" means every officer of the police department of the city, or any officer authorized to direct regulate traffic or to make arrests for violations of traffic regulations. (Ord. 1748 § 1, 1983)

§ 11.02.160. Public parking facility.

"Public parking facility" means any lot, space or area within the city now or hereafter used for off-street parking of vehicles by members of the public, and owned or operated for such use by the city.

§ 11.02.170. State.

"State" means the State of California.

§ 11.02.180. Truck route.

"Truck route" means a street, avenue or thoroughfare over and upon which vehicles designed or used for the transportation of commodities or materials may be driven and operated regardless of weight and size of the vehicles; provided the vehicles do not exceed the size and weight of vehicles permitted by state law to be driven upon or over highways and streets within the State of California.

"Vehicle Code" means the Vehicle Code of the State of California. (Ord. 1748 § 1, 1983)
