2-2.301 - Membership.

The Fire Department shall consist of a Fire Chief and such other officers and firemen as may from time to time be authorized or employed by the Council.

2-2.302 - Duties.

It shall be the duty of the Fire Chief and officers of the Fire Department to enforce all laws and regulations for fire prevention and fire control. Such reports shall be made to the Council as shall be required by the Council or by the rules and regulations adopted by the Council pursuant to the provisions of Section 2-2.304 of this article.

2-2.303 - Records.

The Fire Department shall keep full and complete records of the activities of the Fire Department, including a record of fires attended, the costs, losses sustained, amount of insurance, and such other data as may from time to time be required by the Council.

2-2.304 - Rules and regulations.

The Fire Department, including the officers, firemen, and equipment, shall be subject to such rules and regulations as may from time to time be adopted by the Council.

2-2.305 - Rescue ambulance service: Transportation of ill and injured persons.

The rescue ambulance vehicle, as may be provided and used in the Fire Department, shall be used and operated in order to provide primary or emergency rescue services or to transport persons, when an emergency requires such transport, to a hospital or medical facility within the City. Such vehicle or service shall not conflict nor interfere with the regular private ambulance service used in the City but shall be used only when a critical emergency exists and immediate transportation is necessary to preserve the life of an injured or ill person. The rescue unit personnel may transport the injured or ill person, if such person does not object, and if the City employee or officer in charge of the rescue unit believes that such critical emergency exists and that immediate transportation is necessary to preserve the life of the person, or, when on a police case, the person in charge of the rescue unit is ordered to transport an injured or ill person by a police officer of the City.

2-2.306 - Rescue ambulance service: Records and reports.

The injured or ill person may be transported to the Southeast Doctors Hospital or to any medical or hospital facility within the City. Whenever such person is transported to any medical or hospital facility within the City, an accurate record of such transportation shall be maintained, and a prompt report thereof shall be made to the Fire Chief.

2-2.307 - Rescue ambulance service: Regulations.

The Fire Chief may recommend additional regulations covering the use of the rescue ambulance unit of the City as the Fire Chief deems necessary or desirable. Such regulations shall become effective when approved by resolution adopted by the Council.
