10.16.010 - Prior zones validated.

The no-parking, the limited parking, and the bus, freight, passenger and taxi zones established by the director of roads of the county prior to September 1, 1960, on or in connection with any street, highway, road, or roadway under the jurisdiction of the county are validated and said no-parking, limited parking, and bus, freight, passenger and taxi zones which have been properly or appropriately marked by the director of roads pursuant to and in accordance with the provisions of the Vehicle Code of the state of California prior to September 1, 1960, are declared to be the no-parking, limited parking and bus, freight, passenger and taxi zones of the county.

10.16.020 - Regulation of crosswalk and safety zones.

The director of roads of the county, after taking into consideration sound, basic and standard engineering and safety practices, is authorized and empowered to fix, regulate and determine the location of crosswalks and safety zones, and to place and maintain, or cause to be placed and maintained, signs or lettering at or near said zones or crosswalks prohibiting or regulating the driving across or in said crosswalks or zones by vehicles on a roadway. All signs placed or maintained by the director of roads pursuant to this section shall conform with any applicable provision of the Vehicle Code of the state of California.

10.16.025 - Regulation of pedestrian midblock crossing.

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 21961 of the State of California Vehicle Code, pedestrians are prohibited from crossing midblock on the following roadways:

A. Near city of Bakersfield.

  1. Pioneer Drive between the crosswalk at Shalimar Drive and the crosswalk at Jane Street.

10.16.030 - Markings.

The director of roads of the county is empowered and it shall be his duty and responsibility to place, or cause to be placed, proper and appropriate markings as prescribed by Section 21458 of the Vehicle Code and other applicable provisions of said Vehicle Code for all of the no-parking, limited parking, bus, freight, passenger, taxi and angle parking zones created and established under this chapter.
