San Luis Obispo County Municipal Code Ch. 2.52 Group Insurance

For the general welfare and in order to afford greater social security and the material advantages of group insurance for all of the officers and employees of the county a system of group health and accident insurance is adopted.

This board will enter into a master group insurance contract with any insurance company duly authorized to transact health and accident insurance business in the State of California, in a form satisfactory to the board, when fifty percent of the officers and employees of the county request in writing coverage under such a contract be entered into. Any such contract entered into shall provide the following benefits for those officers and employees who apply for them:

(1) Sickness and accident insurance benefits;

(2) Hospitalization insurance benefits;

(3) Surgical operation benefits;

(4) Accidental death and dismemberment insurance benefits.

The premiums for the group insurance benefits applied for by individual officers and employees shall be deducted by the county auditor as a payroll deduction from the compensation of such individual officers and employees who have applied for such benefits. The deduction shall be made to the extent authorized by such individual officers and employees.

The total amount deducted for all such premiums shall be paid monthly in one warrant drawn on the county treasurer to the order of the insurance company which has entered the contract to furnish the benefits applied for.
