§ 2.32.010 AUTHORIZATION—CREATED.¶
There is hereby authorized and created a police reserve, to be known as the Monrovia Police Reserve, which shall be organized for the purpose of assisting the regular duty Police Department, subject to the limitations set forth in this chapter and all other limitations imposed by law.

§ 2.32.020 MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY—NUMBER LIMITATION.¶
Any person not less than 21 years of age who shall meet the other qualifications elsewhere set forth in this chapter shall be eligible for membership in the police reserve, subject to all regulations prescribed in this chapter or in the bylaws of the organization. Membership shall be limited to 25 members, who shall be appointed by the City Manager, upon the recommendation of the Chief of Police.

§ 2.32.030 OFFICERS.¶
From the membership of the Police Reserve, a Reserve Commander will be appointed. The Police Chief shall be the commanding officer of the group. In the absence of the Chief, the person designated to act as the Chief of Police shall act as the commanding officer at any time the members are on active duty or any other time the men are in uniform. A Reserve Coordinator shall be appointed by the Chief of Police from the members of the regular force. Such Reserve Coordinator shall have full responsibility for the Reserve Force and shall be answerable to the Chief of Police.

§ 2.32.040 RECORDS KEPT AND CLERICAL WORK—REQUIREMENTS.¶
All necessary secretarial records shall be made and kept, and all clerical work shall be performed within the regular Police Department of the city for and on behalf of the Police Reserve when such records are a part of any activity relating to the operation and management of the Police Department. All historical records, minutes of reserve meetings, and other recordings and data not required or covered by this section shall be the clerical responsibility of the Reserve Force. At least one copy of all such records shall be filed at the police facility and shall be a part of the permanent records of the department. The department shall furnish typewriter, paper, and other necessary office supplies for the proper recordation as specified by this section.

§ 2.32.050 EQUIPMENT.¶
The city shall furnish uniforms and equipment as designated by policy for use by the organization, but all such property shall remain the property of the city. Such equipment and uniforms shall comply with Police Department specifications. All property acquired, wherein title is vested in the organization, shall be deemed city property for all intents and purposes. Control, maintenance and use of such property shall be vested in the Police Department. No property shall be acquired without the express written authorization of the Chief of Police.

§ 2.32.070 CALL INTO SERVICE—DUTIES—REGULATION AND CONTROL.¶
The Police Reserve may be called into service at any time by the Chief of Police or the Acting Chief of Police and shall perform specific police functions as shall be assigned to it or to the individual members thereof. The Police Reserve shall be subject to the same rules and regulations, and shall be subject to the same kind and extent of control as the regular police of the city.

§ 2.32.080 COMPENSATION FOR INJURIES RECEIVED WHILE ON DUTY.¶
A reserve officer who is authorized for duty and is injured while in the performance of those duties within the scope of his authorization shall be entitled to temporary disability compensation for a period not to exceed three days; provided, that no other source of indemnity is available to compensate said reserve officer for such three-day period. Such compensation may be in an amount that actually compensates the injured officer but such compensation shall not exceed that of a regularly employed patrolman.
