2.64.010 County Office Hours And Holidays

Except as otherwise provided in Mariposa County Code or by resolution of the board, all county offices shall be open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on every day of the week except Saturdays, Sundays, and the following holidays:

  1. January 1, known as "New Year's Day".

  2. The third Monday in January, known as "Martin Luther King Day".

  3. The third Monday in February, known as "President's Day".

  4. The last Monday in May, known as "Memorial Day".

  5. June 19, known as "Juneteenth".

  6. July 4, known as "Independence Day".

  7. The first Monday in September, known as "Labor Day".

  8. The second Monday in October, known as "Columbus Day".

  9. November 11, known as "Veteran's Day".

  10. The Thursday in November appointed as Thanksgiving Day.

  11. The Friday immediately following Thanksgiving Day.

  12. December 25, known as "Christmas Day".

  13. Every day appointed by the President or Governor for a public fast, thanksgiving or holiday.

If a county holiday falls on Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be deemed to be a holiday; if a county holiday falls on Sunday, the following Monday shall be deemed to be a holiday.

Notwithstanding the above, the county administrative officer may approve limited closure of county offices to the public during holiday periods up to eight hours per day to be determined by the county administrative officer and the head of the office or department having supervision over the county office being closed to the public. Such determination is to reduce costs and shall take into consideration the day and hours when public convenience and necessity are least impacted as a result of the county office being closed to the public and shall provide appropriate notice that such changes in office hours will occur, along with instructions for emergencies and availability of other offices.
