13.48.020 - Purpose—Application of state and federal laws.

The provisions of Articles II through VI of this chapter are adopted for the regulation of boating, waterskiing, swimming and certain other aquatic and marine activities within the boating areas of the Buena Vista aquatic recreation area, and the regulation of beaches, launching ramps and docks in and about such boating areas in relation to the activities above mentioned, and shall be deemed to be supplementary and subject to all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

13.48.030 - Specified provisions not applicable.

The provisions of Chapter 13.08 of this title do not apply to the Buena Vista aquatic recreation area, except insofar as may be expressly provided in this chapter.

13.48.040 - Mention of certain acts—Prohibition unaffected.

In stating reasons for establishment of special use areas or regulations therefor, certain activities may be mentioned which are prohibited in such special use area (for example, swimming, which is prohibited in both Lake "A" and Lake "B"); and no such mention shall be construed as authorizing an activity contrary to any prohibition or limitation contained in this chapter or in any regulation, rule or order.

13.48.050 - Markers, buoys and signs.

In case any waterway marker, buoy or sign affecting navigation for any particular purpose is prescribed by the United States Coast Guard or by the California Department of Boating and Waterways, or by any statute, no other waterway marker, buoy or sign shall be used for such purpose under this chapter or under any regulation or order made pursuant hereto.

13.48.060 - Exemptions—Patrol boats.

The prohibitions, limitations and regulations of this chapter, and of any regulations, rules or orders adopted or made pursuant thereto, are not applicable to any patrol boat or other boat while under the control of an authorized officer, unless expressly so provided.

13.48.070 - Exemptions—Emergency actions.

No prohibition in this chapter is applicable to any act or activity which may be reasonably necessary in an emergency to effect a rescue of a person or to otherwise protect the life, health or safety of any person, or to prevent sinking or loss of any boat or serious damage to any boat, equipment or other property.
