2.40.010 - Creation.¶
Pursuant to the provisions of Government Code Section 65200, there is created a planning department of the county.

2.40.020 - Duties.¶
The planning department shall:
A. Be responsible for the administration of the planning agency, for preparation of recommendations and decisions of the planning agency, and for maintaining records of the planning agency;
B. Perform the duties required for the proper preparation and administration of the general plan as provided by state and local law;
C. Perform the duties required for the proper preparation and administration of specific plans and regulations as provided by state and local law;
D. Provide administrative support and professional advice to the planning commission and board of supervisors;
E. Perform special studies and surveys as directed by the board of supervisors.

2.40.030 - Planning director.¶
The county executive officer shall appoint a planning director, who shall be a person qualified by training, experience, and demonstrated ability to manage the affairs of the planning department. The planning director shall be the administrative officer of the planning department.

2.40.040 - Consultants.¶
The board may employ or contract with planning consultants and other specialists for such services as it requires to assist it in making land-use planning decisions.
