Type B and Type B-W gas vents shall comply with UL 441, and Type L gas vents shall comply with UL 641. 509.1.1 Installation. Listed chimneys and vents shall be installed in accordance with Section 509.0 and the manufacturers’ installation instructions. [NFPA 54:12.2.1] 509.1.2 Prohibited Discharge. Appliance vents shall not discharge into a space enclosed by screens having openings less than [1] ⁄ 4 of an inch (6.4 mm) mesh.
