2.48.010 - Storage.

The police department shall store unclaimed property that comes into its possession at such place or places as the chief of police designates.

2.48.020 - Holding period designated.

All unclaimed property that comes into the possession of the police department shall be held by the police department for a period of at least three months.

2.48.030 - Public auction—Authorized.

After the property has remained unclaimed for a period of three months, such property may be sold at public auction to the highest bidder by the chief of police.

2.48.040 - Public auction—Notice.

Notice of the sale authorized by Section 2.48.030 shall be given by the chief of police, at least five days before the time fixed therefor, by publication in a newspaper of general circulation published in Riverside County.

2.48.050 - Public auction—Disposition of unsold property.

If any of the property regulated by this chapter remains unsold after the holding of the public auction, as aforesaid, the chief of police may destroy or give away the unsold property, or dispose of such unsold property in any manner that he deems proper.
