11.32.010 - Crosswalks—Establishment.

A. The city engineer shall establish, designate and maintain crosswalks at intersections and other places by the use of appropriate devices, marks or lines upon the surface of any roadway. Crosswalks shall be established and maintained where the city engineer determines that there is particular hazard to pedestrians crossing the roadway subject to the limitation contained in subsection B of this section.

B. Except as designated by resolution of the council, and other than crosswalks at intersections, no crosswalks shall be established in any block which is less than four hundred feet in length. Elsewhere, not more than one additional crosswalk shall be established in any one block, and any such crosswalks shall be located as nearly as practicable at midblock.

11.32.020 - Crosswalks—Use required.

No pedestrian shall cross a roadway other than in a crosswalk in any business district.

11.32.030 - Crossing at right angles.

No pedestrian shall cross a roadway at any place other than by a route at right angles to the curb or by the shortest route to the opposite curb, except in a marked crosswalk.

11.32.040 - Standing in roadways.

No person shall stand, walk or play on any roadway if such action interferes with the lawful movement of traffic. This provision shall not apply to any public employee, or to any employee of a public utility when necessarily upon such roadway in line of duty.
