3206.2.1 Alcance de la protección. 3206.3.1 Tamaño del área de almacenamiento de gran altura. El tamaño de cada área de almacenamiento de gran altura incluirá la huella de las estanterías, anaqueles o pilas reales de almacenamiento de gran altura y los siguientes pasillos:
- Pasillos interiores dentro de la huella del área de almacenamiento.
- Un pasillo alrededor del perímetro de la huella con un ancho mínimo según lo requerido en la Sección 3206.10.1 o la dimensión hasta una pared de altura completa, lo que sea menor.
3206.3.2 Múltiples áreas de almacenamiento de gran altura. Cuando un edificio contenga múltiples áreas de almacenamiento de gran altura, se utilizará el agregado de todas las áreas de almacenamiento de gran altura para la aplicación de la Tabla 3206.2, a menos que las áreas de almacenamiento de gran altura estén separadas de acuerdo con una de las siguientes:

3206.3.2.1 Múltiples áreas de almacenamiento de gran altura de clase múltiple. Las áreas de almacenamiento de gran altura clasificadas como Clase I a IV que no estén separadas de áreas de almacenamiento de gran altura clasificadas como de alto riesgo deberán utilizar el agregado de todas las áreas de almacenamiento de gran altura como de alto riesgo para los fines de la aplicación de la Tabla 3206.2. Las áreas de almacenamiento de gran altura de clase múltiple que cumplan con los requisitos de separación en la Sección 3206.3.2 se considerarán separadas. Las características de seguridad contra incendios en la Tabla 3206.2 se extenderán más allá del área de almacenamiento de mayor riesgo conforme a la Sección 3206.2.1.

3206.4 Rociadores automáticos. ¶
3206.4 Rociadores automáticos. Se deberán proporcionar sistemas de rociadores automáticos de conformidad con las Secciones 3207, 3208 y 3209.
3206.4.1 Paletas. Los requisitos del sistema de rociadores automáticos basados en la presencia de paletas deberán cumplir con NFPA 13.
3206.4.1.1 Paletas de plástico. Las paletas de plástico listadas y etiquetadas conforme a FM 4996 o UL 2335 se tratarán como paletas de madera para determinar la protección requerida de rociadores.

- El muro exterior opuesto dé hacia una vía de acceso para vehículos de emergencia.
- El muro exterior opuesto esté provisto de puertas de acceso para el departamento de bomberos.
- La superficie interior completa del muro exterior esté a menos de 150 pies (45 720 mm) de una puerta de acceso para el departamento de bomberos.
- El edificio esté equipado en su totalidad con un sistema automático de rociadores conforme a la Sección 903.3.1.1.
3206.7.2 Ubicación. Cuando los muros exteriores que rodean áreas de almacenamiento de alta densidad den hacia vías de acceso para vehículos de emergencia, dichos muros deberán estar provistos de puertas de acceso para el departamento de bomberos.

- Los pasillos que cruzan estructuras de estanterías o pilas de almacenamiento, que se usen únicamente para el acceso de empleados, no deberán tener menos de 24 pulgadas (610 mm) de ancho.

- Los pasillos que separan estantes clasificados como almacenamiento en estantes no deberán tener menos de 30 pulgadas (762 mm) de ancho.
3206.10.1.1 Edificios con rociadores. Los pasillos en edificios con rociadores no deberán tener menos de 44 pulgadas (1118 mm) de ancho. Los pasillos no deberán tener menos de 96 pulgadas (2438 mm) de ancho en áreas de almacenamiento de gran altura que excedan los 2,500 pies cuadrados (232 m [2]) de área, que estén abiertas al público y designadas para contener mercancías de alto riesgo.

- Los pasillos en áreas de almacenamiento de gran altura que excedan los 2,500 pies cuadrados (232 m [2]) de área, que estén abiertas al público y designadas para contener mercancías de alto riesgo, y que estén protegidas por un sistema de rociadores automáticos diseñado para estanterías de múltiples filas con mercancías de alto riesgo, no deberán tener menos de 44 pulgadas (1118 mm) de ancho.
- Los pasillos que estén en áreas de almacenamiento de gran altura que excedan los 2,500 pies cuadrados (232 m [2]) de área, que no estén abiertas al público y estén protegidas por un sistema de rociadores automáticos diseñado para estanterías de múltiples filas, no deberán tener menos de 24 pulgadas (610 mm) de ancho.
3206.10.1.2 Edificios sin rociadores. Los pasillos en edificios sin rociadores no deberán tener menos de 96 pulgadas (2438 mm) de ancho.
3206.10.2 Altura libre. El ancho requerido del pasillo deberá extenderse desde el piso hasta el techo. Se permite que los soportes estructurales de las estanterías y las pasarelas crucen los pasillos a una altura mínima de 6 pies 8 pulgadas (2032 mm) sobre el nivel del piso terminado, siempre que dichos soportes no interfieran con la trayectoria del chorro de manguera del departamento de bomberos.
3206.10.3 Pasillos sin salida. Los pasillos sin salida no deberán exceder los 20 pies (6096 mm) de longitud en ocupaciones del Grupo M. Los pasillos sin salida no deberán exceder los 50 pies (15 240 mm) de longitud en todas las demás ocupaciones.
Excepción: No hay límite para la longitud de los pasillos sin salida cuando la longitud del pasillo sin salida sea menor a 2.5 veces el ancho menor del pasillo sin salida.
